1200 Calorie Diet

Pick something that fills you up but is low cal and live on that for a bit? 

I don't take a lot of time for meal prep because I don't have the time to do it with the sleep I like to get, so I got 90 calorie protein bars to snack on and shit.  It's awful.

I not 100% sure what it consists of but people on Reddit claim it works for them

How many calories you need a day varies widely from person to person.

2000 calorie diet is because of 1950s mentality. We are still there, if you haven’t noticed. They never updated with the times, so they keep printing the outdated information, because of indoctrination.

Average male from FDA, GQ, Men’s Health, Maxim, and GNC averages together. Female is usually different. Of course, all people are different, for me, 2500 calories in a day is easy, because half of them come from 24 ounces of Sunkist.

The 2500 calories or else is a myth. Everyone is different depending on their age, gender, and activity levels.

In order to determine your basal metabolic rate :

Men = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)

Women = 65 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)

This is the amount of calories you need to live without moving a muscle. Basically, this is you as a houseplant.

To find out how much you need to actually do stuff, think honestly about your exercise levels. Taking your exercise levels into consideration, look below and multiply your BMR accordingly:

little to no = 1.2

light 1-3 days a week = 1.375

moderate 3-5 days a week = 1.55

intense 6-7 days a week = 1.725

extreme wtf 6-7 days a week = 1.9

The result is the basic amount you should be taking in to maintain a weight. If you want to lose weight, you then burn more calories than you take in.

The 2500 calorie average makes sense. Especially if you’re active 2-4 days a week. It’s enough to keep your body from eating itself, but not enough to make you fat (most of the time). 2500 for women IS extreme, except for maybe pregnancy. 2500 calories then is like only feeding half a person.

...............So what happened in ~60 or so years that we need MORE calories? It's common knowledge that the American lifestyle is far more sedentary than it used to be. Wouldn't that mean we need FEWER calories?

Anyway, you picked a number for EVERYONE as a MINIMUM TO SURVIVE. And that number is fucking huge. As you later acknowledged, it's different from person to person (of course your initial post threw that out the window), but, like I pointed out, it varies WIDELY from person to person, and katt named various factors that contribute to that variation.

I got 2,085.6

I understand it was fairly simple instructions and basic math but I was just really, really bored waiting on my clothes to dry

Alright I guess I see where you're coming from. I used this site and plugged in the numbers for a 25 year old, 5' 10", 160 pound male who is lightly active and got about 2500. Idk the way you said it just sounded like u were saying it was a rule for everyone. And you made eating at a calorie deficit sound so dramatic by saying your "body is eating itself" when that's literally just called losing weight.

Okay. The number that was picked, again, is the number that was recommended as an average, by multiple sources, for active lifestyles, to lose weight. To survive, we need less than that. Read the whole response, I even mentioned that was the average I saw from multiple sources.
