things you miss from where you're from

If you live somewhere else than where you were raised, is there stuff you miss? Doesn't have to be the whole thing, but maybe there was an exceptional County Fair or a regional specialty you can't get anywhere else. If you still live in the same place then idk maybe there's something from the good ol' days you just can't find any more. I miss uneven land and not disgusting tap water, how bout you?

Free trash and recycling pick-up.  I never knew that wasn't the norm, it was a perk of living in a village within a town, I always assumed it was just part of taxes or something.

Not like I moved far, I'm like 10 min up the road, but still.

The only thing I miss about living in the middle of nowhere is being able to walk out my front door and go on long walks through the woods and follow a creek or the river or the train tracks and not seeing anybody or any houses or anything the entire time.

I don't have to drive very far at all for that now, but it's just different driving home when you're ready instead of realizing you've gone too far and then having to drink river water just so you can survive the long walk home all exhausted before it gets too dark.

We actually moved back to Our old stomping grounds a couple years ago. A few towns over if you want to get technical. And while there are a few local commodities- a particular pizza joint, a certain brand of chips, a particular style of chili, and what have you- that We greatly appreciate being back in Our life, it is far more the general mood of people that We enjoying having back. It's not a better or worse thing when compared to the other place; both have their pros and their cons. But We are far more comfortable with the typical attitude of home.

I mostly miss food...not that texas doesn’t have some bitchin gems. And it has afforded me the luxury of trying a wider variety of ethnic foods....but I do miss NY food...

side note...I know there are users that refer to me as Texas trailer trash...but I’m not from Texas soooo....get it right asshole I’m NY trailer trash...

yes but not about the city itself.  not miss "where" but a lot of things like memories, good times, people, places...

missed opportunities and broken connections are the two that really get me,

or sometimes just daydreams about how things could be much better or different than

they are...  i end up telling myself it could be worse...

A very old two-screen indie theater where I worked during community college and stayed after hours screening movies, watching Its Always Sunny in the theater, and having paranormal experiences with my fellow coworkers and general manager

It's still there. I'm not.
