Nostalgically maybe, if that's a word..  Actually you are probably right.

It's just hard to beat that feel it gave at the time though..

I think the creator did the best they could making it look and feel more realistic.

Since they had to because gamecube software was WAY farther behind the curve then alot of shit.

Melee only got as popular as it did in the competitive scene because of unintended combos. The creator hated it, too. It's a really freestyle but highly technical game which is why I love it. But a lot of your main stay move sets are still being discovered, 15 years later. Largely unintended but that's what makes the game.

Jigglypuff rest? It's way harder to use on Wii U. Been a while since I played, but I was at a friends house,

and somehow he didn't know jigglypuff had the sweet spot ko so I trolled him a bit, but I;ve never really

spent much time developing a strategy with jigglypuff because all the other moves have 0 force applied,

and the knock off seemed nerfed from previous versions so it wasn't as fun.  :D

and that's what makes it so great

Yep. The screen in the back is the main stage. The tables in front are other matches happening. Snapped a picture cause one of the guys is a pro player.

for whatever it is worth I think the bald guy on the right is mew2king

also for whatever it is worth I prefer casual party free-for-alls over highly competitive 1v1 no-items, no-hazard play

I like playing both, but competitive Smash is so boring to watch. I can't imagine playing as a legit pro on mere virtue of the playstyle required of pros completely draining any enjoyment out of the game. Playing competitively against non-pro friends is, you know, actually fun.

That is Mew2King. He ended up taking 4th at that tournament. Was cool watching him play in person.

I guess that's what I mean. It's one thing to switch it up for a match to end all matches, but it's another thing to play against people who exclusively play competitively and think "casual" is just four-player on final destination with no items.

I met him once when my friends organized some event here (they were all into that competetive scene at the time, hence my lingering resentment towards tryhards).

He's a bit of an awkward guy - a combination of the social aptitude and living with one's mother that leads one to become a pro video game player in the first place mixed with a weird sense of entitlement from being a "celebrity" within that community. Evidently he crashed at my friend's place for like a week and refused to pay for anything himself in a "Jesus Christ order your own damn french fries we're grown-ass men, and no I wasn't offering to cover you" sort of way.
