I do miss the era of CDS
Chapinator_X replied to PhilosipherStoned's topic in Arts, Literature & Music
It wouldn't have sucked to see CDs go away if cars still had them. It was the reason I was still buying metric tons of classic CDs from thrift stores, but now that new cars don't have them, they'll all be obsolete once I eventually get a new car. -
Had a friend's baby shower at my old house so there wasn't much of an option for rejecting an invite. From my experience, the general verdict was "guys can go, but really, why would you?" Free food's great, but the main attraction is the baby so every aspect of it is centered around women getting things for the baby, talking about the baby, and possibly relating it to their own experiences with babies.

I've been addicted to DangerousBride's Ada/Leon material since the RE2 remake came out. -

Unless you strike gold like the Peepo Choo guy, you'll have to refer to this edition of Answerman for your answer. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2013-10-18 -
I haven't played it, but I remember it and Shadows of the Damned were compared often because EA dropped the ball on promoting the two. That and the strange imagery. Where it fused the GoW gameplay with the off-beat stylings that would naturally come out of basing an action game around The Divine Comedy. Thrift store hauls are the best though. Found some old PS2 games I used to love and some pleasant surprises.

There wasn't much of a reason to really cheer on anyone because they were all just cardboard cutouts of a specific trope (The Shinji, The Yandere, The Gangster, etc). There were a few good moments like Minene's hero streak after falling for the agent guy or the Marco/Ai scenes, but the rest felt very shlocky. It felt meaningless and empty whenever they tried to do something edgy like adding rape storylines or stabbing a 5-year-old child through a table. I'd say it was being a tryhard, but it felt halfhearted as if they added the edge in just so that people wouldn't tune out and leave whenever Yuno was tasked with cleaning up Yuuki's messes every time he peed himself in the face of danger. The anime would probably work better if you just want to pass the time or watch fluff, but even then, there's better edgy fluff in the world.

It was a trainwreck, but I did like Minene and Akise. Minene because she's a Revy-like character who is a hard-ass that ends up getting taken aback with that secret agent guy that she ends up getting with. And Akise because But by all accounts, I wasn't a fan of show's tryhard edginess and by the tail-end, it felt like they were throwing crap at the wall by the time it was coming to a close.

Fatal Frame whenever the blinded woman kept surprising me. That game also had a nasty tendency of spawning random ghosts from nowhere and scaring you if you stay idle or pause the game.

I've been playing the PS1 version of Resident Evil 2 cause I wanted to make a better effort at clearing it before contemplating getting the remake. Finished the Claire A route and about to get started on Leon B.

For best case scenario, getting fans of Adult Swim and Toonami on-board would help normify the community to the point of palatability. Just send in swarms of anime and [as] fans. Anyone really, but those demographics would probably find this place to be rather charming. Ideally, something to switch up the "prison of lost souls" atmosphere the current boards have where people who are old enough to know better are still taking part in immature e-slapfights. Or at least giving newbies a Cliffnotes version of all the messiness so that they can catch up on so that they too will be able to decipher 12 pages of in-references from hell. It can be a PDF with hoohas, roadkill cooking, casual racism, giggle-chills, kegalspasms, and a timeline of drama that stems all the way back to the mid-2000's.

Cool Devices was on Netflix? I remember getting Queens Blade on PSN, but I missed Cool Devices. Did they happen to have Pigeon Blood too? -

Trader Joe’s is more reliable for everyday food. Other than a few niche things, Whole Foods is somewhere I go if I can’t find something anywhere else. For some reason, the beer at Whole Foods is cheaper than other nearby grocery stores.

Honestly, Will Smith's Genie was the only part that impressed me about the new trailer. It still has the same issue as Beauty & the Beast in having the whole thing feel artificial, like a story that's happening on a cheap movie set or a stage rather than a living breathing world.

Used to love playing MK at the arcades, mostly through MK2 and UMK3. Had some chances to play home versions of other MK titles, but the only ones I owned were MK2 & MK9. My main favorite characters were Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Sindel, Kung Lao, and Sub Zero. The first four because I've been able to do well playing as them and the last guy because he was cool in the 90's. I also like Rain but only cause of the Prince reference. My least favorite characters are Baraka and Reptile because, with each new installment, they become more and more dopey. Baraka just felt like they deliberately made him and his clones primitive inbreds while Reptile's gradual transformation into a lizardman also made knawing on bones his defining personality trait.
