The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149 is getting an anime
Chapinator_X replied to Blatch's topic in Anime & Manga
Idolm@ster has always been in my blind spot because it’s been like pulling teeth to get the games here. I’d love to have a game where I can stare at these two for hours on end, but having to watch let’s play or the anime spin-offs for them makes me feel like I’m not doing my due diligence to get into it the same way I could get into something like Love Live, Bang Dream, or EnStars. -
2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
Chapinator_X replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
Desantis can stay quiet and looking pretty for his supporters, but he knows he owes his entire existence to Trump and needed his support to win in 2018. The culture war was the only way he could hide the fact that he’s a witless goober who couldn’t win a debate to save his life. The added misfortune that Desantis is a horrible debater and has publicly choked also makes it easy for opponents to claim he lacks the stones to lead the party into the future. And winning elections against state Democrats really never prepped him up for having to survive a Trump debate. If he’s mocked for being nothing without MAGA, he’ll make the same mistakes as Cruz and Rubio back when those two were meant to be the party’s future. -
Netflix should make a K-drama where it’s a post apocalyptic Mad Max space, but they’re still working desk jobs and falling in love. They have quirky office mishaps while mutated monster people raid the building for resources. My elevator pitch would be “The Last of Us, but in a high-rise office building where the CEO and the secretary fall in love.”

By the time they spend triple digits on gacha game characters. -
Black cats are the best. Mines super chill but a little clingy.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a lie to try to duck a hate crime charge AND take control of the narrative by fueling the idea of LGBT people staging a hate crime to slander conservatives who were already one anti-LGBT op-ed away from shooting up drag brunches, library story times, children’s hospitals, and classrooms across America. Also, if you side with the shooter or any media that supports the shooter, you can fuck yourself in hell.

Unreliable release windows that change with every production, inconsistent release schedules based on whether it’s weekly or all dumped for binging, surprise drops that feel like they’re sent to be DOA, and quality concerns that have cropped up with shows that receive a significantly different budget from others plague Netflix as an anime platform. Why even license some of these shows if the simulcast is delayed by a month? Why refuse to announce that Stone Ocean Part 3 will be out by the end of 2022 when people are already fuming about the possibility of it airing in 2023 out of distrust? What kind of deal was given to have weekly releases for Komi-san or Isekai Ojisan, but sit on LWA or Beastars until it’s long finished airing. What is it about Kotaro-san or Edgerunners that made Netflix want to give it more fanfare than Highrise Invasion or Way of the Househusband?

Newest Simpsons Tree House of Horrors has a Death Note parody
Chapinator_X replied to matrixman124's topic in Anime & Manga
It was pretty clever how they made a Death Note parody that poked fun at how the notebook would be used if the owner can’t only rely on practical deaths or the default heart attack. So many Death Note parody comics lean on “funny cartoon guy gets the Death Note” or “hated person is murdered by the notebook” that they don’t realize the funniest twist a Death Note could have is to have impractical rules. Where once the normal deaths get played out, they have to get more ridiculous with giant blenders and toilet animals. They had some gags that took me out as well like Homer knowing he’s made it as a salaryman if he’s flat-out drunk at the dinner table, Mr. Burns’ head collapsing on the burner after a “peaceful” sleeping death, or L revealing that Lisa was outlining all of her murders in her regular diary. -

Ryo: Hey Toonami-san. Toonami: Hiiiii Ryooooo! Ryo: Where can I find Season 2 of Shenmue? Toonami: Season 2!? I’m sorry, Ryo. We tossed it out! Something about some Zaslav guy writing off the show for tax reasons. Ryo: I see… Toonami: He gave your Shenmue money to another season of Fixer Upper. Ryo: Do you know where can I find this man?

I’ve been drinking almond milk for so long that a lot of other milk tastes odd. I like coconut and oat better, but almond is more practical for everyday milk.

I’ve been grinding on Guilty Gear Strive and having a blast with Baiken and Testament. Was trying out Bridget again cause I used to main her in X2, but I miss when you could remote control Roger to have sawblades while you’re combo-ing. I also got Elden Ring recently. I’m not usually a big fan of the SoulsBorne games, but this clicked in a big way for me. I like the kind of strategy I can get from firing magic and dodging as a Mage vs. trying to slash and strafe my way through an almost certain demise. I’ve had Pokémon Arceus on hand for a while, but never popped it in til this weekend. I’m having a pretty good time with this one as well. Still early in the game so I don’t have too much info. Yakuza 7 and Tales of Arise are still in my backlog. Made some progress in Yakuza, but I’ve been sitting on Arise for a while.

I used the free version to catch up with Chainsaw Man once I caught up. I did read JJK on it too, but kinda fell off from it.

That’s good to hear. After hearing about what happened with the Mob Psycho dub, I’d rather not give CR any kudos or incentive to screw over others. Pffft, these guys 🤣

There’s only so much handwaving that can be done about his mental health before it’s better for the public to disengage from his attention-seeking entirely if they really want him to get help. His white fans will still enable him because his instability makes it easy to feed into the “mad genius” image he’s been cultivating since his mother died, and many of them have no problems with saying his spiraling is “based”. That, and because he paints a red target on himself by espousing racist and anti-Semitic right wing talking points, it gives him plenty of conservative Yes Men who will let him embarrass himself regularly for attention. And because of them, he winds up sharing the same distinction as Herschel Walker in that conservatives targeted them because their deteriorating mental health makes them vulnerable enough to be preyed on as easy black representation. With his feud with Pete Davidson dying down, the only two things he can lean on for easy press is publicly stalking his ex wife and relinquishing control of his actions over to the ghouls who gave him a white supremacist fanbase.

In not-so-breaking news: Women don't want to date conservatives
Chapinator_X replied to naraku360's topic in Current Events
Every time a conservative dating app launches, there’s always 50 articles about how they all wind up being sausage parties because, as it turns out, women aren’t clamoring to date some of the most unfuckable men in the country. And then that spawns 50 thinkpieces about how it’s society’s problem that women won’t join these apps to date republicans and that women need to be guilt-tripped into pity-fucking chuds. “You can’t judge a book by its cover!!!”, they cry as they call the women they’re trying to get with shallow and judgmental for not overlooking their heinous views on both women and society as a whole. -

Ian barely scraped past me, so I got lucky with tropical storm weather and some tornadoes I had to watch out for. Still very nerve wracking, especially since Ian has been steering just about everywhere on short notice.
