The backstory ended up being far lazier than I would've imagined. There's interesting details to work with like how the kids are planning to go against APE at some point and maybe the possibility of them reaching out to the Klaxosaur Princess once everything's said and done, but then they just cut-and-pasted the Impacts, cloning, NERV, SEELE, fortress cities, and Gendo's M.O. from Evangelion to explain the existence of APE, plantations, the kids, and Dr. Franxx's motivations.

I usually go for single player anyways and would rather fight the CPU, but that's why I haven't latched onto many Capcom games in recent years. I already have P4 Ultimax and lost interest in BB around Chrono Phantasma, so the only draw this game has for me is the ability to control two characters. Locking pre-existing characters like Naoto or Mitsuru Kirijo behind a paywall also hinders my interest in buying the game until the base price is lower.

I'll probably get it when it's on sale. Tag fighting with the Persona 4 characters seems promising, but I've got a backlog I'm more focused on completing.

The live action movie is coming out soon, so it could be to help beef up promotion for the series knowing that the movies could renew interest in the series.

The PS4 one is an arena fighting game like Anarchy Reigns or the Shounen Jump fighting game. It's a little messier than the Naruto Ninja Storm games since there's more platforms, but has a ton of characters so it has the added benefit of an awesome roster with the characters that didn't make it in the PS3 one. I played the PS3 one for a year or so before I got tired of it, but I appreciate how far we've come to be able to play as both Josukes, Mista, Jolyne, Hermes, Giorno, Fugo, Bruno, Okuyasu, and Lisa Lisa. The fanservice is also a lot of fun with how many motifs from the manga they kept in the special moves, poses, and dialogue.

It's old enough to have Famicom games. But I did buy the original PS1 fighting game a while ago. It's pretty fun, but I have been far too privileged with fighting games that use the joystick instead of the D-Pad. The games easy enough and playing as both versions of Joseph, Polnareff and Mariah was great, but the side scrolling mini games and QTEs were a pain with the D-Pad, especially the Steely Dan stage. All Star Battle was also a fun but slow fighting game. Haven't played the PS4 one, but the demo wasn't as good with the messiness of arena fighters.

“The Heat is On” really ties it all together

My main objectives at the moment have been Yakuza 0 and 5, but I got a fighting game itch so I’ve been popping in Persona 4 Arena and Naruto Ninja Storm 4. Fire Emblem Heroes and Fate/Grand Order have been taking up my time for phone gaming.
