I need a new comedy anime to play in the background
Chapinator_X replied to André Toulon's topic in Free-For-All
Gintama is great, but it’s more of one of those shows I tell people I enjoy despite only having seen about less than 50 episodes. Now that it’s bumped up, I can bring up this season’s anime: Asobi Asobase - Makes you think it’s a standard high school anime but it’s really about three girls who come together to sabotage those around them for their own gain. Includes a heavy metal ending theme. Grand Blue - A college guy joins a Diving Club that turns out to be a place where macho dudes and an otaku go to binge drink and make awful decisions. Chio-chan’s School Road - A girl into gaming is forced to find the quickest route to school before she’s late. In the process though, she gets caught up in predicaments that make her commute all the more hectic and eventful. Asobi’s the funniest of the bunch, but Grand Blue might be easier to have on in the background. -
I always felt bad for the dude. His pre-fight dialogue is often him pleading with the other fighter to help him find a cure for his curse only to be possessed so the fight can start.

Final Evangelion film has a release date...January 23, 2021.
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Honestly, after that third movie, the wait hasn't bothered me. I have no idea how they're going to end the story from there and I'm not that interested in finding out, but will watch it because it's Evangelion and because its the last of the Rebirth movies. I guess this is the anime equivalent of the rationale behind watching Star Wars Episode III and the upcoming IX. I've already come this far so I might as well. -
Between Grand Blue, Chio-chan, and Asobi Asobase, there's enough top quality comedy this season for Backstreet Girls to fall by the way side. Netflix jail is also a factor considering that played a role in screwing over any momentum Hi Score Girl could've gotten.

They wouldn’t have kept it this long without selling it earlier in the year if they were really smart. The Congressional hearing alone was terrible for FB’s image, but Zuckerberg kept fucking up on such a wide scale that it would really be unwise to expect a sudden switch in the stock’s improvement for at least another 6 months to a year. That is, if Zuckerberg doesn’t continue fucking up.

Not sure if anyone who’s following Toonami’s Shippuden broadcast doesn’t know what happens next, but they’ll sure as shit know if the first episode of this airs right away. -
anyone else get tired of all the DC movies??

It’s pretty telling about the quality of DC movies nowadays that people are more excited for Shazam than anything with Batman or Superman. -

If it’s hard liquor, then gin is often my go-to followed by rum, tequila, and whiskey. Otherwise, beer and sake are boozes I drink the most.

The only thing keeping her from playing "212" at country fairs or food festivals is the magic she received from sacrificing all of those chickens in her basement. I mean, Cardi's voice is obnoxious and I listened to nothing of hers after Bodak, but I couldn't set the bar low enough to bump Banks' music.

Someone went hunting for the American Sailor Moon pilot
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
This was quite a fun read. I remember reading something about Ami being in a wheelchair, but it looks worse than I thought, especially with animation supplementing the action sequences. I can't help but feel bad for Frank Ward because it seemed like he saw potential in Sailor Moon and its eventual success in the States, but could only play by the rulebook of 90's television, so he worked hard to make it palatable for the Power Rangers audience only to get the rug taken out from under him and have his replacement show also wiped from the pages of history. The show would've been embarrassing, but it makes for fascinating lore into what the landscape must've been like for anime in the US during this period in time. Even though anime was present through a subculture that traded subtitled VHS tapes or watched the very few anime that came over unscathed like Akira, it was so niche that companies had to repurpose it all of these years by either Americanizing it to a dramatic degree or chopping up parts of a show to invent new ones like Voltron. And with the early 90's, the breakthrough was only a short time away, effectively tanking ideas like this one for a Power Rangers-esque Sailor Moon adaptation once the interest in broadcasting DiC's dub of the series came into fruition. -

Is it sacrilegious that my favorite tekken fighter
Chapinator_X replied to Still Me's topic in Free-For-All
Back in Tekken 2, Law was my go-to along with Lei. Dude did jump-flips like a boss, had that Bruce Lee energy going for him, and mowed through Arcade Mode like it was no one's business. Around Tekken 3 when his son took his place briefly, I think I went with Lei or Xiaoyu, but I switched back to Law around 4. Around 5, I still played Law, but a little infrequently now that I've got other mains I'm too heavily invested in to switch back. 5 was where all my Asuka/Xiaoyu skills came from, but I remember doing a lot of tourneys facing off with Hwoarang's, mostly because they were against friends I did Tae Kwon Do with, so they were all about mastering Hwoarang to live vicariously through his TKD skills. I was more partial with Baek Doo San as far as my TKD Tekken reps went, but I've had some fun with Hwoarang's playstyle, especially since I prefer his mechanics to the standard Mishima movelist. -

Asuka and Xiaoyu have been my favorites for a while, though I've been using Master Raven more in Tekken 7 and have been getting a good feel for her playstyle. Haven't tinkered with the newer 3rd party selections, but Noctis looks like a fun addition. Hopefully they add in Kazuma Kiryu or Lei in future updates. -

I just saw it recently, and it was crap city that shat away any shred of potential The Force Awakens might've brought to the new trilogy. Yeah, Rey's family never mattered, Poe keeps doing stupid shit to get everyone killed, Finn has to waste his time babysitting Rose while she goes on about wanting to fist this ugly beautiful town by saving the ones she loves, Luke Skywalker is turned into a resentful hobo who triggers Kylo into joining the First Order, Snoke is a punk bitch who never mattered, the only thing keeping Kylo going is his boner for Rey, Phasma never mattered, Hux never mattered, no one really cared about CGI Lupita Nyong'o, Laura Dern never mattered, Admiral Ackbar really never mattered, Leia's first encounter with the force is her CGI gravitating towards the ship, they made up some shit about force projections so that they wouldn't have to keep Luke in the picture, and Benicio Del Toro was just thrown in to pad out the story along with everything else related to the casino. The one good moment was when Rose's sister had to fight through her ship to trigger the payload she had before it exploded. It's like Rian Johnson really fucking hated Star Wars so once they gave him the keys to the castle, he did his best efforts to take a massive shit on both the new and original trilogies.

I'll be honest, I thought this was part of the Thundercats reboot and thought She-Ra was a character in that universe instead of the He-Man one. But in comparison to that reboot, this seems alot more like a petty neckbeard tendies explosion than childhood betrayal. "HOW CAN MY TOUGH MASCULINE WARRIOR GIRL BE AN SJW LESBIAN WITH DIFFERENT ART!? REEEEEEEE!" Funny enough, the first thumbnail reminds me of this graphic about the animated adaptations of Morrigan from Darkstalkers "How dare She-Ra look like a twink when she should look like a cheap Vegas drag queen! REEEEEEE!"
