I know Toonami has slim pickings, but the fact is, that picture I posted last week sums it up. They can’t capture lightning in a bottle twice and DeMarco trying over and over again is the definition of the sunk cost fallacy.

This show has gone over so badly DeMarco had to debunk rumors it was written by some cringe writer in LA.

Watanabe wasn’t involved with Netflix Bebop and did an interview earlier this year where he flat out called it crap, saying he couldn’t stomach more than a few minutes of the first episode.

Yeah, that something seems to be the classic “leech off the popularity of others.” Which fair play, was definitely an option.

So Netflix One Piece got a renewal two weeks in, defying the odds for live action anime…and once again making me wonder what, if anything DeMarco will do with the anime airing on Toonami.

Legally they can’t till the strike is over. Once is it, that’s probably their first call.

It is a remake and the rumor is it’s a…CG anime. And a Netflix original because of course Netflix wants more shows where people punch each other in the face. Specifically, it’s the same folks doing SAND LAND for Toriyama.

I posted this thread because I thought it was interesting to see the continued push of shows like this into mainstream culture, and it somehow got turned into an anti Serena Williams thread despite Serena retiring last year and her sister clearly done after her first round loss this year.

While the series hasn’t done Wednesday or Squid Game numbers, it’s doing well above numerous big budget releases like Sandman and The Witcher in less time. Hopefully they announce a season 2 soon. For reference, One Piece had over 10 times the viewing hours Bebop did in its first week.

I’m watching a YouTube video on North Korea’s abduction of the director Shin Sang-Ok, and apparently when he gained asylum in the US, he spent his last years making the 3 Ninjas films. Interesting life.

No word on whether this is a movie side story adaptation, a comedy thing like the DD series from a few years back, or a straight up remake. If it is a straight up remake, dollars to donuts it ends up on Netflix.
