  1. Enter the Dragon - 9/10. Got the 4K release. Few films live and die by the charisma of their main actor. This is one of those films. There have been so many cheesy films with the martial arts tournament setup that don’t work anywhere near as well because of a distinct lack of Bruce Lee. Although having John Saxon and Jim Kelly helps immensely.
  2. This show is immensely frustrating. The version of Clark? One of the best ongoing versions of him since the DCAU. Everything with Clark/Superman they get right, that he is this guy with a lot of power but decides that he’s not God, he’s not Jesus, he’s your neighbor with the tools. “I’m here. How can I help?” So why is everything around Kansas’s favorite fictional son so obnoxious? Lois is not likable, the villains are lame, the art style is bland and boring, and for all the talk of this being an anime Superman, it’s anime through the lens of people who consider a lot of anime “problematic.” And the Kryptonians are suddenly dollar store Viltrumites? You’re ripping off the aliens who ripped off the Saiyans who themselves were Kryptonians! Also Kaiju Parasite was done better in Man of Tomorrow. At least we didn’t see the MAWS version of Lobo.
  3. Homemade tomato sauce, squid ink spaghetti and a T-bone steak with French red wine.
  4. Baki Hanma S2 15-17.
  5. Ramen. This was the birthday of a buddy of mine who passed a few years back, and we used to get ramen all the time. The good stuff at a restaurant with the fresh pork, egg, and a cold beer. So I got it in memorial. Here’s to ya.
  6. Baki Hanma S2 14
  7. You have good animators under Warner’s employ. Why do you keep using this Poser level nonsense? Also, MJF is in this film because reasons.
  8. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/rick-morty-season-7-premiere-return-date-1235573874/ Still no word on Roiland’s replacement.
  9. Would you believe the snail phones are practical props, not CG?
  10. I think when it comes to stuff like Bleach, there is a sense of possessiveness from the hardcore Toonami audience. That this is "our" show, that Toonami made it successful, and there's a feeling of betrayal when Viz decided to take that sweet Disney money to make it a Hulu exclusive.
  11. Not everyone here likes wrestling (me personally I prefer MMA and boxing although I like pro wrestling casually) but there’s an overlap, not to mention AEW is a big show on a Turner network, so advertising there seems like it’s logical.
  12. Finished Bastard!! S2 Jujutsu Kaisen S2 3-7.
  13. https://x.com/onepiecenetflix/status/1694001487171715393?s=46&t=qkEIjJHbOepJnnU58px_yQ Final poster. Behind the scenes video.
  14. No, every streaming service just needs a good amount of the stuff for value.
  15. I think we’ll all be happier if we accept that things are way different than they were for Toonami in 2012, or Adult Swim Action in 2006.
  16. My weird brain went to the idea of Robert Rodriguez directing a LA movie.
  17. The rumor was they’re making a second season of CM and a movie but they didn’t say what kind of movie.
  18. https://x.com/kimetsudaily/status/1693637695543615718?s=46&t=qkEIjJHbOepJnnU58px_yQ Netflix is throwing money at this already.
  19. Fair enough. That being said it felt like Mxy’s appearance being so generic and a lot of negative comparisons to Gilbert Gottfried’s legendary performance made the conversation around the series turn negative.
  20. MAWS has utterly tanked these past few weeks in the ratings. Any boost that initial curiosity around tomboy Lois gave the show seems to have been replaced by the usual arguments that have dominated everything DC since Man of Steel came out (namely, Zack Snyder is the best and a genius, or a compete hack so far up his own ass it’s hard to tell where one side ends and the other begins).
  21. Gran Turismo - 7.5/10. The latest in the surprisingly notable sub genre of “being good at vidya makes you good at something in real life” that is tempered by getting across the enormous learning curve of being an athlete vs driving in a room, and the sheer contempt EVERYONE seems to have for gamers, which means you could replace the antagonists in the movie with the staff of Kotaku and not have it be too different. It works because it hits that natural desire to root for an underdog, and the races themselves are very creatively shot thanks to Neil Blomkamp’s direction.
  22. It used to be mutually beneficial for all sides to air their wares on Toonami, now it’s unnecessary.
  23. Duck, rice, and salad with red wine.
