It’s been a while since I hated on a show to amusing unreasonableness, but I have half a mind to just put a link to Tiger Mask W when Invincible Fight Girl comes out just to show how to do a wrestling show correctly.

Replace Mashle with Suicide Squad Isekai and I think you’ll be mostly accurate.

They’ll be almost caught up. I’m still pretty sure Netflix is getting Hashira training first, to say nothing of the Infinity Castle trilogy.

Thundarr is the one I’m most interested in admittedly because he was a staple of their advertising despite no new material, and because the original show was designed by the duo of Alex Toth and Jack Freaking Kirby, the King of Comics himself. That is a pedigree right there. I’m also…pretty sure if the creators didn’t buy the rights back we’d be seeing the SWAT Kats instead of the Herculoids. I wonder how long before a Centurions comic is allowed?

MAWS chugs along to Season 3, and is set to introduce 90s Chippendale’s Dancer Superboy. Note this costume IS comics accurate.

As for Kinnikuman But Boring, I saw some quotes that really put my issues with a lot of this "Diet Anime" in perspective, and why I'm hoping between X-Men 97, Invincible, and Creature Commandos, we see a return to the 90s era comic art in animation, something that feels like its own thing, rather than aping the parts of others poorly. There's too many people who see 5 seconds of an anime and think they can make their own version, but they consider so much of anime "prOBLEmaTIC!" and they create this boring slurry. No one commits to the bit because the bit offends them somehow. If you’re going to do anime, you gotta go for it. Blood, dynamic angles, stuff that looks original, etc. If you were going to make a Diet Anime wrestling show, you should be required to marathon Tiger Mask W first. https://tubitv.com/series/1854/tiger-mask-w

I'm not sure how wise that is. Mike Lazzo's whole thing was "Bring the funny or look for another job." Rebrands like this usually mean they lost support in key demographics.

I might be going softer on it than other shows, but Clayface the weeb who keeps expecting the other world to behave like a traditional isekai power fantasy has been pretty funny so far.

So now that the dub is on Max, is Suicide Squad Isekai a complete no go? Because it’s pretty fun.
