Smiling Friends got its Season 3 as well.

I was getting a bit worried because it wasn’t in the Top 10’s the way My Happy Marriage was (although My Happy Marriage was #89 out of Netflix’s entire catalog in the second half of 2023, with only Baki beating it as far as anime was concerned) so this is a relief.

Go Go sounds like an anime version of the old 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, but unfortunately with less Vincent Price. Was hoping to see some Get Jiro footage after having read both comics.

When you put it like that it sounds even lamer trying to compete with stuff like Kengan Ashura and Kinnikuman.

This is the first DC project directly under the new Gunn regime. Apparently a full panel about the new show is happening Friday.

Gunn really needs to take this thing out back after this season because…yeah. The Superman franchise has plenty of great villains, you didn’t need to borrow Justin Hammer.

There’s a difference between “family show”, “family show with some objectionable content”, and “strictly for the kids”. Fight Girl looks to be Category 3. It’s certainly not -

I doubt it. Warner is probably handling it in-house.

Hulu and Max. Or Disney + and Max if you have the Hulu subscription. No Adult Swim.

Even if arguably most Americans started caring about it last year. Still fun to see though,

I blame a lot of people. Zaslav for dumping Reign on Netflix where it’s getting its face caved in, Suicide Squad Isekai being too high profile, and this creator for just making me wish they dubbed Tiger Mask W.

To this day the fact that they were able to edit a show that boils down to “Space babes want to fuck a country bumpkin turned reluctant space samurai” and actually make it work is a small miracle. I hate censorship in all forms but that takes talent.

Does it count if the shows were more adult originally, but Toonami edited the hell out of them and refused to spend money on fixing it? Also, Invincible Fight Girl really feels like, if not the last straw, a new low. There's no nostalgia behind it, no use of a universal IP like Superman, no auteur creator, it's just some lame-ass kids show about a girl wrestling that feels like a lame Western answer to Kinnikuman, just in the time for the Perfect Origins arc to be on Netflix (not to mention all the other martial arts/underground fighting anime they have).

That is a bold, bold statement.

Delicious in Dungeon 20. Hajime no Ippo 3-18. I have no idea what happened but I started watching this show in chunks while doing other stuff. I forgot how awesome it is, and I bought the damn Blu-Rays. Speaking of, hey, Netflix, get and dub New Challenger and Rising. You have those union studios at your beck and call, you could dub it and probably get Richard Epcar back to play Kamogawa. That or get some rando celebrity to play him.

Also, you notice how over the last ten years, shows that have pro wrestling in them seem to be really focused on the kids set? Boxing and MMA have that teen/adult demo down so when a show has pro wrestling as a theme, you’re thinking “this is definitely for the kids.” All the Jon Moxley death matches in the world can’t seem to change that perception, especially with Netflix having a metric ton of underground MMA and fighting anime. Any way you slice it, this is a bad fit for the block.

We have confirmation Adult Swim is being all but ordered to air kids show Invincible Fight Girl, so mark that down for Q4. Meanwhile Scavengers Reign is on Netflix, and this is happening to it. Of all the cartoons to premiere on the same day in the US, it had to be Hajime no Ippo.

Well they can’t air Scavengers Reign, it moved to Netflix where it’s getting its teeth beaten in by Hajime no Ippo. And Suicide Squad Isekai seems like a no go as well.
