Well, my reasoning is “Can DanDaDan keep up its momentum?” At the same time, we’re going to “Can Uzumaki turn it around or would Toonami be better off showing The Penguin?” I think that’s fair, mostly because DanDaDan blew minds with its first episode too.

I think the best comparison will be its third episode vs DanDanDan’s second. If that keeps up its pace, then Uzumaki has a DeMarco problem.

So he just admitted the rest of the series is going to be a shit show. They legitimately might have more goodwill if they just aired The Penguin instead. We know DanDanDan is off limits.

Let’s hope it’s a bit more manageable, because this is the second most disappointing sequel Warner has released this weekend.

So, who wants to watch DanDanDan next Thursday? Or Ranma 1/2 on Netflix? I’m sure that the meat of the series of fine, but man, Junji Ito adaptations are cursed.

This is probably the first Junji Ito adaptation to really get the visuals down, which might be why it took so damn long. This is a visually beautiful series which really manages to sell the horror of what's going on with the spirals. It's also a damning indictment of the short-sightedness of Zaslav to sell Crunchyroll to Sony when it's clear anime is keeping up with all the stuff on Max. The only two shows ahead of Uzumaki today in top views are The Penguin and John Oliver.

No, that is weak. Netflix at least differentiates between the subs and closed captioning. Anyway, apparently anime is a growth sector for Zaslav and friends. They've started slowly with some anime based on DC characters and they're making more originals, like Rooster Fighter which will be coming out soon.

So my guess is we get it on Toonami either Spring or Summer 2025.

Uzumaki is off to a strong start on Max, #4 only behind big hitters like The Penguin and John Oliver. So if the linear ratings are ass, the show isn't to blame.
