  1. The whole thing feels like people on an abandoned island fighting over food scraps. With cable networks becoming increasingly expensive albatrosses on media companies, on top of advertising focus switching towards streaming, it doesn't feel like it will help in the long run. Animation Domination on Hulu ads are a big deal, and they're essentially cornered by Family Guy and Futurama (along with The Simpsons and Solar Opposites), an old school Adult Swim block that just needs to properly advertise Bleach to really hammer home the similarities. You're not getting the new Futurama's either way, those are staying on streaming, while the new Family Guy's are Fox to streaming. As for Rewind, I like the concept of it, but it feels 10 years too late to matter. Even if the adventures of the biggest girlfailure to ever fight monsters is more charming than half of the current CN lineup put together, it's airing on 5pm on a Friday. Not appointment television. Meanwhile the redub is over on Hulu, and Netflix is airing the remake movies.
  2. Kengan Ashura S3 (S2 part 2) 13 and 14.
  3. Considering their notable slate, the answer is probably “more original content.”
  4. I still think it’s weird to do it concurrently with both the main anime and the big budget LA show.
  5. I think they discussed it elsewhere. My understanding is while they’re still friends, Tim wanted to do more stuff in acting, while Eric’s interests were more behind the camera and in production.
  6. The Futurama deal was guaranteed to go sideways once they announced all the new episodes would be exclusive to Hulu.
  7. The previous specials have this particular Rick playing the part of grumpy patriarch more than abusive drunk. He’s still Rick but is a bit more sympathetic than American Rick.

  9. It was bad. Very bad.
  10. Kinnikuman Perfect Origin 5.
  11. Belated birthday dinner of short ribs and mashed potatoes with the pancetta and mushroom topping, garnished with parsley and served with Napa Valley wine.
  12. This is why I’m frustrated Suicide Squad Isekai is off limits. At least when they were hawking Max Warner would loan Toonami some shows.
  13. Demon Slayer Hashira Training 7 Suicide Squad Isekai 7-8.
  14. So I read the end of MHA.
  15. To be fair this is a decently common practice. Netflix saved Nimona from Disney trashing it and got an Oscar nomination for the trouble. I could see them being interested.
  16. I don’t know, I feel like that would encourage a lot of flame wars and a parasocial relationship with a corporate entity that preys upon that loyalty. Maybe I’m worrying too much.
  17. Finished Gundam SEED.
  18. “Throw it all overboard!”
  19. It'd be one thing if they were working with a lot of action-oriented IP or IP based on comics. After all, we got Suicide Squad Isekai out of that, and for better or worse it seems to be doing rather well. But this is Adult Swim, home of the Adult Swim Stoner Series. Nothing in the current list of stuff that isn't already anime benefits from an anime spin-off in the same way Highlander or the DC characters did, where it's taking these action properties and giving them a different lens. Hell, most of the shows relying on looking weird, low-budget, or otherwise, and this would be a square peg in a round hole. And as for the original action properties, the ones we have that aren't anime are desperately trying to imitate anime only without the stuff that makes Tumblr writers feel icky. So making it actual anime doesn't work. Making Invincible Fight Girl anime wouldn't fix it, it'd just make the Japanese viewers want to watch more Kinnikuman.
  20. https://www.thewrap.com/crunchyroll-15-million-subscribers/ For comparison, Peacock has 34 million, and that’s with all the WWE and the Olympics.
