It's official, DBZ reruns on holidays outperform their normal schedule on non holidays. Super is making something of a comeback now that it finally "got good" around episode 100. People are interested in it now, they actually talk about it IRL. Which is pretty funny since the entire reason for the marathons are "Well it's a holiday no ones gonna be watching anyway" What's Black Clover gonna do, marathon filler? =P

Like that time everyone wanted the critically beloved and popular juggernaut MHA but he got the universally reviled and critically mocked Black Clover? They will luck their way into one good show next year. That's it.

As everyone thought, that early Super was decimating the numbers for Toonami. Now we have two shows over a million again, that's something. BC, Jojo, Gundam = Bye bye 70 percent of the audience. Gundam is the lowest retainer in the key demo. And that's airing AFTER two shows that had horrible retention. Stop airing Gundams. Naruto ties HxH in the key demo while airing 2 slots behind it. If any show deserves to be moved up it's Naruto not HxH.

BOiNG. Also I think Akame gets a bit of a bad rap. It's not THAT cliche. It's basically a Shonen where almost everyone dies, including the main character. Did Naruto let Naruto die? Is MHA going to let Deku die? Does anyone think Asta is going to die in Black Clover? There's no way. Despite a few tropes and cliches it's actually a fairly unique anime. It's just a bit rushed for all the stuff they wanted to do with the two separate groups each with their own members and different motivations. Plus in the manga young girls get raped and torn apart by wild dogs. That's not much of a cliche. Part of the reason Akame didn't do well in Japan is they killed off main characters, and Japan absolutely hates that. Manga writers get constant negative feedback and are pressured to "bring back" characters that people like even if its detrimental to the story. Now Black Clover... is cliche.
