I don't think he had any experience. The voice acting blew. The 5 parter you're talking about didn't actually start until episode 37. It was definitely a high point of the series. A lot of people thought He-Man was canceled because religious wackos at the time were up in arms against all the sorcery stuff. But it was just canceled because they always planned to just do 2 years, and had moved on to She-Ra. Thundercats is worlds beyond He-Man in terms of quality. Here, watch an actual episode.

Infinity clock arc has a nice plot twist.... and a few nice fights. The ending is decent. But..... it's 5 episodes of content stretched out over like 25 episodes. It dragsssssssssss.

Yup yup. It's bad. The Celestial Spirit arc in the 2014 season of FT is the only worse arc IMO. It's another filler arc that has like 3 episodes of Virgo chasing Lucy around threatening to douse her with Mayo.

I'd be too busy getting a massive erection to save the world if I was their age. Also I'm gonna be honest... when I saw that it takes two people to pilot the mechs I thought of Pacific Rim. I always thought it was stupid in that movie as well. I agree with Naraku about Toonami being terrible, not about HxH of course. It's a bunch of Shonen and reruns. I've even started to sour on Jojo, it just doesn't seem like its going anywhere. It's just stand of the week, someone ends up eating shit or getting peed on. At least Super gets good in 60 episodes!

Except SAO barely counts as a harem because Kirito quickly picks Asuna and ya know, marries her. None of the other girls have a chance. I shall quote you.. DxD, Highschool of the dead, Shuffle, Freezing, Familiar of Zero, Date A Live, The World God Only Knows, Trinity Seven... those are harems. Stein's Gate is more of a Harem than SAO. Just about every anime has a comedic moment in it somewhere. It doesn't make it a comedy. What hot girls are on Toonami? It seems like they're not comfortable with any type of Ecchi. Even Fairy Tail was too much for them.

Well the problem here.... is they seem to be anti Harem and anti hot girl. Anti Harem means you can never air Re Zero, Gate, Konosuba, No Game no Life and tons of other good stuff, along with the more obvious harems like Highschool DxD, Highschool of the Dead, and Freezing. Come to think of it, if you're anti harem you couldn't even air Stein's Gate So no Harem, no anime with hot girls, no comedy, no moe, no slice of life That's just taking too much off the table.

They really limited themselves by sticking to Shonen and action anime. Comedy, School, and Ecchi are the most popular according to Mal. Also... they're cheap as hell to make and likely much cheaper to acquire. If you're going to go the Shonen/ action route, you have to actually get the big ones. MHA, Mob Psycho, Overlord, Gate, Tanya. Toonami isn't good at change though, so I'm skeptical.

Naruto beat the 2 shows before it and the entire last part of the block. I refuse to watch it but you can't argue with success. With an earlier timeslot I think it would have beaten Jojo and Clover as well. That doesn't say anything good about your anime block when Shippuden is one of your main draws. And to the HxH fans who always say it should move up... this is why it's 6th and is lucky to stay there. It's too bad about Dandy, I like Dandy. But I admit, he never made it into the mainstream and this is how it goes when you air something with no mainstream appeal.

But they're not doing fine. They're surviving due to CN's ratings being at record lows and they have absolutely nothing better to replace them with. This weeks ratings should be a bit of a wakeup call that things are not going to get better until they make changes.

Overlord S2. Seven Deadly Sins S2 Grancrest Death March Killing Bites Violet Evergarden Citrus Karakai Daring in the Franxx Poputepipkku How many of these will air on Toonami after they're dubbed? Probably zero. And that's the problem. As the anime seasons come and go Toonami won't manage to get a single hot new show that people are actually interested in. Maybe once a year they'll pull a rabbit out of their hat with a One Punch Man or Kill la Kill, but it's hard to run a block with one success a year.

Uhhh in a way Toonami IS for hardcore fans. They air stuff that has no mainstream appeal in the US and reruns. Lupin and Gundam? 20 year old reruns of Outlaw Star and Bebop? Jojo? If they were airing "casual fan" stuff the block would have a lot more ecchi and harem stuff. The sad fact is a generic harem like the Asterisk War could probably beat most Toonami shows in the ratings.

So... 562k viewers for BC eh? Due to this huge media push to get BC everywhere I'm almost assuming they got it for free. At least Toonami doesn't lie like Crunchyroll and talk about what a great anime it is. The reason Toonami feels like a relic is not just because it's TV... it's the shows. It's like going anime antiquing. Kai isn't a draw anymore, it just delivered another 78 percent retention. Followed by 71 percent for BC. That's 51 percent of the audience for the entire night gone on two shows. Nothing after Super is strong enough to draw its own audience. So was this Toonami's worst night ever aside from the Bebop marathon?

Only 60 something more episodes before Super gets good!

Thundercats actually had a lot going for it despite the shitty voice acting and repetitive Lion-O drops the sword of Omens plots.

The child in a man's body thing was so Lion-O could learn life lessons during his adventures, lessons that adults already know. Never give up, just because something looks ugly doesn't mean it's evil, etc. It was very much a product of the 80's though, There's not really any shows of that era that "hold up." Except maybe Gi-Joe. In fact .... the only reason He-man even exists is because they made a toy. The cartoon was a complete afterthought designed solely to sell those toys. In fact despite the fact that it was a massive hit, He-Man was run on a shoestring budget. Ha, the old Thundercats was great, but dismal in terms of voice acting and individual episode plots. If you never had a chance to see it..... you should know that 90 percent of the episodes involve Lion-O getting the sword of omens knocked out of his hands, then getting back to it and using the Thunder.. thunder.. thundercats hoooooo!!!! chant to power up and win. Almost every episode was like that, and there were like 150 episodes. What makes this even stupider, is all Lion-O had to do to get the sword back was say... "Sword of Omens.. come to my hand!" and it would fly to him like a Jedi's lightsaber.
