Feature I've found that I'm not a huge fan of: Looks like if there's 2+ weeks between posts in a thread, the site will literally add a "2 weeks later.." insert between posts. Again, just more unnecessary empty space.

Weird shit from the weird side of youtube

I forgot all about these guys. Definitely not my jam, but respect for the commitment. -
The worst part, as buddy pointed out, is that somewhere in those 30 minutes you still come to the conclusion that it must be some kind of gag, but it's just not a funny one. We're so used to [as] also being terrible that we just accept that sometimes the "so bad it's good" is really just bad.
-
Oh, and gifs.. we used to have a button for that in the post editor.. didn't we? I guess it's gone now? It kinda wasn't working for me for a while anyway, I suppose.

Absolutely makes sense. On the plus side, small sample size, but I swear twitter/youtube embeds load a lot faster now. Also, not sure if it might just be a thing I have turned off, but reputation points appear to have disappeared from under user icons? Seems like something I'd turn off.. but I swear I was seeing it prior to update.

It has merit, the provided information is kinda nice to have. I just despise empty wasted space in UI. Speaking of, the header on Current Events is kinda somehow excessively huge now. But that's probably still more of the skin issue. And I can sorta get if there's always gonna be something wonky with that somewhere on the site.

Poking around finding changes. It seems for maybe larger threads (I think?), the site adds some extra sidebar with stuff like "top posters" and "posted images" etc. At a glance, nifty extra thread info. But also means the entire rest of the page has a quarter of the screen taken up by blank space. Definitely something we could probably do without, if there's any way to disable that.

Why do you need to sign out on one to switch to the other? I can be logged in on laptop and phone at the same time..

They even minimized it during regular "credits" time to show a R&M ad, while the show was still running (since I presume it's an hour long program?). I'm still not entirely convinced that "Very Scary People" isn't exactly something [as] would come up with to make up stupid fake serial killer stories for spooky month. Aaaand, we're back. R&M up as scheduled. Just a full 30 minutes of the wrong program that doesn't even fit the time slot (I assume).
-
Why tf is there a shitty serial killer documentary on [as]? Are there supposed to be April Fools' fart sounds or something? Gave this a few minutes waiting for a Too Many Cooks situation, something stupid to happen, anything absurd, before looking this up and it's just an actual regular Discovery ID show? With a name like "Very Scary People" I was at least expecting a dumb parody of the genre.

FLCL Grunge Episode 3 Finale Discussion!
rpgamer replied to DangerMouse's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Definitely agree on the Amarao assessment. There was honestly zero reason to include him except to rehash original gags. Idk.. I can at least give it credit that, in the end, it did feel like it held to the maturation motif, as all three characters did grow out of their childhood ennui or whatever. Granted, really didn't give any characters room to breathe and really feel worthwhile. Kinda just "presented as still being kids, Haruko happens, inciting character growth." No real depth to it. -
Looks like they're maybe dropping the Friday marathons for normal scheduling.

Every time I watch that music video, it gets stuck in my head for days. Word is Kung Fury 2 is finally set for release later this year.

When you want to form a metal band, but nobody knows how to play guitar. "Mama said I could be anything when I grow up, so I became a guitar." -
FLCL Grunge Episode 2 Discussion!!
rpgamer replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Didn't think this episode was too bad, tbh. Some slight exposition. The "eyebrows" was again a needless callback trying to capture the same magic of the original.. I think one of the major failings of the show is just how it never really established very well what the world is. We know Haruko's some space pirate of ill repute, if the tales are to be believed. Unsurprising that MM is spread through the galaxy as well. But this just didn't seem to establish the setting very well. Future Earth? Alien world with humans? And maybe some of that is a result of a 3 episode series, little enough time to set up a "classic zany FLCL plot." And obviously that's kinda rushing said plot along as well. But, all the rush aside, this one felt like it came closer to the mood it's striving for. Did not like the pronunciation of "Samueda" through this, tho. Why the heavy accent on the last syllable? That's a fairly simple read right there.. -
The only version that fits in my head

Y'know, fair. I thiink I sorta got around that by positioning everyone defensively so I could just pass the ball around periodically and return to hugging the goalie. But I can't remember if there's any bonus exp for shots/tackles etc. And obviously not learning any techs. There's a lot I love about FFX. I've done the whole "rewrite the sphere grid for best stats" before. But, there's still parts I'll completely neglect "perfecting."

I mean.. the whole premise here is that you don't like playing.. being able to afc it and also spend less time in it sounded like the more favorable choice. At least you're not one of the crazies that goes for getting everyone to level 99. I don't think I even want to meet anyone willing to suffer that much.
-
You say that like it's a difficult challenge. Nah, at some point I say stomping just isn't worth all the extra time wasted compared to just running out the clock. If you don't like goalie camping you can always just find someone with high speed and simply kite everyone around without doing anything.
-
Because ultimate weapons demand a sacrifice? At least you can cheese it by hanging with your goalie and nobody will bother you, if you've already got a point lead.

I mean, I ain't even mentioning rights or anything. Just, movie, OVA, "extended episode," call it whatever you want, it still ate up three episodes-worth of air time, which always seemed to be the more important sticking point when considering airing movies. Rights aside, movies just take up a lot of space and rarely justify knocking other shows off the block. (evidently we don't have any other shows for the block right now, so I guess it's a non-issue, lolololol) Maybe personal bias, but I kinda hope these "extended episodes" came in cheaper than picking up rights for a whole season or whatever. Kinda doesn't matter how big the draw is (and it's certainly not what it was), they really just can't get a ton of drawn out value from a one-and-done.
-
Ohhhh. See, I assumed by "season" there would be an actual season of at least some amount of normal 30 minute episodes. I honestly had no idea about it taking a while to make it here or whatever. Honestly, again, kinda genuinely surprised Toonami even decided to go for this given previous stance of No Movies. And, again turns this whole "ending" mess into something even more ridiculous that it already seemed. But hey, if it means AoT gets one-and-done'd instead of having to see it every week, all the better.
