  1. Back in like 2007 I think. Missed a full week of work and found out that people were planning my funeral because I never miss work. I missed more work from the flu than I have for infarcts. Yep, flu worst than a bad heart. Get better, dude.
  2. The first thing that came to mind seeing that was 'Never eat cereal at that place' .
  3. Well I wasn't until this thread. But not so much the drinking of the sauces. Just a pizza with dipping sauce in general. And that damn banana pepper. Those two things are the only reasons to bother with Papa Johns at all.
  4. In a general defense of this, no one wants to see their friends' project fail or their friends be unemployed because of a project failing. Even chibi-fail animation with a script that was already basically written ~30 years ago still takes time and energy. That's time and energy that has no returns unless the project succeeds. When in the midst of a project, having cheerleaders on your side can be the little boost you need to keep going. I can't fault the cheerleaders wanting to be cheerleaders even if I question their public rational [ is it so wrong to just say you want your friend to succeed instead of making up something stupid like 'this is the show I would have wanted to watch rather than the original version that I hate...because it turns out I was only 3 at the time it was on' ? Like people aren't going to find out about that ] . As for the angling angle, that's why I hate the whole idea of 'networking' - it's not enough to have talent for a job, you are expected to coat-tail ride on someone else just to get a chance at all. -.-;
  5. They already know where I am. The Ancient Armies of Ye Old Incoherent Babbling are allowed and encouraged to actually register. There's only a few people that aren't welcome around here and quite frankly, old IB would approve of the improvement.
  6. Why do I have to upgrade my cell phone that totally does what I need it to do - be a phone - just because you think it's too old to bother keeping as part of your service plan thingie anymore? My little cell phone does phone things. It connects to everything without issues, sends and receives calls and texts just fine. It's a basic little dumper phone and it's been quite happy for the 7 years I've had it. And now it's on the kill list because it's not compatible with all the blue-tooth / WiFi / technocolor shit that's now considered 'normal' and I have to deal with getting everything transferred to a new phone that your service will accept. Well screw you too, butt-holes. I went from this to this Funk you, forced upgrade. I do my own thing.
  7. You'd think we wouldn't need these sorts of signs but yes, yes we do. People are stupid.
  8. I was wondering about that since it looks like the shelves are open from one end to the other without any reinforcing breaks which on a long shelf would definitely bow. I was also wondering if you had to mount it to the wall to keep it steady. If I could have bookcases like that, this place would be wall-to-wall.
  9. The Legion of Regrettable Supervillians - Jon Morris 96 to go...
  10. I was responding to almost the entire thread with that comment. Only one user with an actual area set-up for their media mess.
  11. And I thought I was a Luddite.
  12. ...or whatever you call them. I'm basically thinking about getting a better storage shelf set-up for the DVD mess because the thing I've got now I've had for so long it's starting to lean from the weight. But rather than just ask people's opinions and suggestions [ because that would be a short boring thread ] , maybe people posting pics of their set ups along with any suggestions will help with ideas too. And discuss!...
  13. I_Hate_My_Large_Penis. I did it right, right? However, I wouldn't change my name to that because who needs to brag?
  14. If you ever enter my mind, please wear bread bags over your shoes. It keeps brain from getting stuck in the treads.
  15. The 'bean mouth' trend isn't a bad thing per se. As long as it's being applied to original characters / shows, it has a chance because then it's part of that particular show feel. When you apply it to something like 'ThunderCats' which already existed, has a certain style associated with it that doesn't allow for this weird chibi-fail downgrade animation, and still has living fans of the original series from the 80's, it's going to hit a wall. And this hit a wall with a very audible splat.
  16. I feed your book to this book And raise you this book
  17. Someone really hates Lazzo. Too bad Lazzo can't internet and therefore will never see all the CAPSLOCKS.
  18. No. Request denied! There are too many people who watch episodes of anime in Japanese with the English subtitles going. Nice try though.
  19. Yes, re-reads count as long as you aren't re-reading the same book over and over and over again for the entire year. WE ARE NOT MONKS! But re-reading a book that you read last year counts because it's a new year. Hell, I have a number of Heralds of Valdemar novels on the re-read pile and Harry Potter is probably going to make an appearance again if I can remember which locker I put the set in.
  20. Yes. They are books after all! Plus, sometimes people only have enough time for something light and fun due to things outside their control like work schedules. So yep, they count and this is like Athena said, for funs for the board folks.
  21. Book Challenge thread in Arts & Literature is now 'active' because why not?
  22. I'll start and hopefully will remember to do this periodically throughout the year. My goal is 100 for the year. Books done - The Return of Odin - Richard Rudgley. The Testaments - Margaret Atwood. Fragments of Horror - Junji Ito. 97 to go...
  23. Because why the hell not. This thread is the bastard love child of a thread in FFA on reading more in 2020 and keeping track and all that fun stuff. To participate : 1. Just say how many books you plan on trying to read this year. You can always decide to add more [ or reduce your goal if crap happens ] as the year goes on, no fears. The point is you set your goal and try to reach it. 2. Update the thread whenever with what you've finished reading. You don't need to update it every day or even after every book finished. It's when you have the time to do so. Please list the book title and author of the book[ s ] you've finished when you do update though. That way if you've read something that someone else thinks sounds interesting they'll have enough info to hunt it down themselves. You never know when someone will post something interesting that you didn't know existed. 3. No summary is needed unless you feel like it. This is mainly a 'list' thread vaguely on par with those 'What Are You Listening To' threads. It's for the users to have fun. 5. You are responsible for keeping track of whether you've met your personal challenge. I'm not counting! Totally not it on this! Discuss!...
