"practice what you preach" fits pretty well right here.

actually, now that you and lupin have each mentioned it, he was being condescending... meh, whatever. i was halfway through typing out a response when the power went out a few hours ago. now that i'm back online, i don't really care. defend shitty behavior if you want.

anyways, the reason i came to this thread this morning: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/28/tax-refunds-are-ticking-up-with-the-average-check-now-more-than-3000.html

nah. kn has made it clear over the years that he knows a great deal about (his) finances. that entire post was out of line. how about this: if someone strolls into your mentions, telling you, the (professional?) writer, that you need to go back and study high school grammar with the attitude lupin brought, you're telling me you won't take a giant shit on them? lupin rattled the wrong cage with his tax "advice" and kn served him in kind.

my sister would love you.

yeah, it's coming this weekend. one last gasp (hopefully) and winter should start retreating. shit, up in sponges' territory and farther north, they got FEET of snow in the last week.
-
that's what i'm telling U bitch

i feel like anything as warm as usda zone 8 doesn't technically experience more than a couple days of winter.

meteorological spring starts tomorrow.

see, that's what every backyard needs. a place to create and build and grow. especially if there's kids in the mix. i was just reading a study (but it's just one study! i get that) saying people who are more exposed to green and growing stuff as children tend to suffer from significantly less depression and anxiety as adults.

as for op, i'm very jealous. spring cleaning/yardwork is like, one of my favorite things. i'ma just look thru the fence and drool while you get yours going.
-
usually happens in early march. might be closer to late march if this keeps up. and i can't do a damn thing elsewhere until the plumbing is completed.
-
i just need the frost to leave the ground so we can bring in the plumber for our venue. he won't cut thru the alley and tap the water/sewer until the frost is out. at this rate, it won't ever happen.

we're supposed to get -2F and 8" of snow sunday night. you're welcome to shove spring down my throat anytime.

if the smoke shop won't refund the charge (and ideally, they should be the ones fixing it and not your bank), the bank is required by law to submit the dispute on your behalf. sucks from the bank's perspective, because those disputes can cost the bank as much as $25 to file. if the total is <$25, the bank usually just ends up eating the charge themselves. -

when i was a kid, i had a checking account at a bank that got bought up by "us bank" and at first i was all excited because it meant we got access to all the new account features, like photocopies of checks instead of the actual, canceled checks in a pile inside the envelope. then i went overdrawn one day and didn't realize it because i wasn't paying attention. one item drew the account negative by like $20 and by time i had it all cleared up, i was into the fees for like $150. i got the balance back up to $0 and closed that little fucker right down. haven't had a checking or savings account at anything larger than a community bank since then. -

BofA was never really bad to me. the card was actually pretty decent (7.5% and no annual fee) but it just developed its own stigma from being tied to debt that was essentially a big, expensive mistake / learning experience. i've never had any other accounts with them though, so i don't know how they are for actual banking. -

you finally get that big credit card paid off in full. been carrying a balance on that card since i almost got married to the dumb one in 2009. dodged a mario-sized bullet there, but ended up with a lot of credit card debt since i'd already financed the entire wedding on plastic. i hated that card, and i went for several years autopaying the minimum on it because it was easier to forget about it than to face it directly. when wife and i had our first kid five years ago, i decided it was time to pay the god damn thing off and be done with it. at that point, it had a balance of about $10k on it. it took a little longer than i'd planned because life would keep happening and i'd need to stop paying here to pay there instead. but the last couple years have been pretty good to us, and we're finally servicing our debt like we should be. this morning, i sent off one final payment for the remaining balance. best $509.10 i ever spent. and now my paycheck is gonna seem that much bigger every month too, since i won't be sending payments off to bank of america anymore. it's gonna be a good day, skeeter.
