you paid someone to detail your car. what'd that cost, $100? you can do that yourself with $8 worth of product and 3 hours of your time. is your time worth $30/hr?

i'll see what i can find and let you know.

the testicle festival is no more...at least not for now. we decided 2017 would be the last year because the weather always managed to destroy shit. and on that last year, high wind and heavy rain flattened tents and dumped porta potties, basically destroyed the entire event, right when it should have been at its largest point. as i was standing in pools of blue shitwater, trying to upright the potties at 10pm after the rain let up, that's when i knew for sure we made the right call to end it. storms knocked us out on 4 of the last 6 years, even to the point where we lost about $10k on the last one. i still have a couple shirts left from the "farewell festival" print run though. not sure on sizes but i can check. this was probably my favorite shirt because it can be taken two ways: "farewell, testicle festival" or "farewell, testicle" festival.

yeah, i agree. after the original draw, i made them about 10% larger and shrank the cones by the same and i thought that was good enough. now after looking at it for a couple days, i think they need to go a bit more. the leaves are probably 2" across and 3" long on average, but the cones are less than 1" long for the most part (some varieties are longer, but size isn't everything right?). the last couple leaves before the cluster of hop cones are generally smaller, like in your pic, but not always. conclusion: need bigger leaves. yup.

thanks! i usually make a logo and then stare at it for a week, tweak it here and there, and eventually settle on it and move on with life. i can already see the first edit coming along for it too. the hop cones need to be a bit smaller and/or the leaves larger. there's a balance that's not quite right from top to bottom. i've grown hops at home with limited success, and since these new ones will be primarily for decoration, i'm not concerned with keeping them in a top hop production state. might just let them grow unkept for the first year, to see how crazy they get.

just got back the approval from the state for the assumed name adoption. now that we officially own rights to it, i can start dropping it about, and i can post up the logo as well. i just created this logo over the weekend. i like it because it's a derivative of our original sportsman's logo. we've used derivatives of that original logo several times for different events or holidays or whatever, so this kinda gives the impression to those familiar with our brand, that the hop garden is also a part of the sportsman's universe, so to speak, while also being a different entity. we chose "hop garden" because, while it's effectively a beer garden, we didn't want to give people the impression that it's some cheap concrete slab with a string of xmas lights and no character (like most beer gardens tend to be around here). it's more than that. we're actually growing hops (primarily as decor but also possibly to harvest and use/sell) and installing lots of living green stuff around. there's going to be spaces for horseshoe pits, live music, seating for about 100, and a full bar with a focus on craft beer (the word "hop" kinda implies that). we'll still have domestics and mixed cocktails, and there will be screens for watching sports or whatever. maybe even a 16' projection screen for evening baseball games. now that the name and address are finalized and rights are secured, we're going to begin installing utilities, followed by concrete, buildings (restrooms and bar area), and recreational stuff. my last task (besides decoration and lighting) will be to build the cooler and draft system. looking at 8-12 taps to start, in a custom-built walk-in cooler, that will pour crafts as well as (hopefully) some signature cocktails...if i can figure out how to pull that one off. anyways, i can finally stop calling it "the venue" when talking to people. and that makes it feel a bit more official. muy bueno.

if this doesn’t look satisfying, then you are garbage

no, we don't serve food. a horseshoe is a local-ish dish that's basically an open-faced sandwich with fries, cheese, and whatever toppings in a big pile. -

thought that was a giant horseshoe for a minute. toss that pile on top of a hamburger on bread, and you're all the way there. -
so i guess the question is, which old boards user is the one who named this beer? you must investigate and report back.
-
yeah, especially you. wait. which one are you? i know i've been scarce lately, but the image is new and all i get from the name are little boxes on the hillside. little boxes made of ticky tacky.

ok, we gotta stop talking about it. fucking ptsd creeping up on me.

resembling normal again, thanks. no sepsis or dysentery so that's a plus. man, i wouldn't wish that ...whatever it was... on anyone, even fuggs.

this is exactly where i was going to go. damn mind readers. also, i for one welcome our @magicrealismbot overlords.

damn, now i have to come up with a few ideas... how about a session ale called "everything in monderation" or a sour called "anime block" (for the wild color, not the attitude). maybe a strong ale called "zeni's method" or a hazy ipa named after any of the resident stoners. this could be fun.

whoa simba. trucks tend to move a little faster at night on the interstate, esp out in the middle of nowhere. it's nothing to see them moving 10+ over the limit if traffic is light.

i'm sure the employees at all the dc's call their respective bases "headquarters" and i don't think there's anything wrong with that. we like to call the place here in town "the empire" because they're expanding operations faster than the romans. one of my good friends spent a couple weeks in ardmore when they opened that dc in 2005-ish, to help train pickers and spotters.
-
the warehouse in ardmore is a regional distribution center, one of a dozen across the continent. the corporate hq is about a quarter mile from my house. 1500+ trucks roll in and out of there on a schedule. we have just a couple truckers in this community.

you ever see any of these guys over there?

some OTR drivers prefer to run at night because less traffic or whatever. they're only allowed to run for so many hours per day/week, so they treat driving like clocking in and do it for the same 8 or 10 hours every day. team drivers can swap out and stay on the road for a lot longer, which is great for the company. there's several married couples here that team drive for the big distro. actually, you probably see those blue DOT trucks over there some too. as for being good people...eh. it's like any industry i think. the assholes probably just don't strike up the conversation or offer to buy, so you don't notice them.

i have no idea what's going on here ...um, yes.
