  1. i don't think the switches themselves are worth much, mostly because they're still kinda common and they don't meet code. you can also get new versions of the push switches that are code and look a lot like the old ones (pearloid buttons and all). but if the switches and wiring are that old, chances are some of the fixtures are old as well, and that's where the money is. we have push-button switches all through our upstairs (house was built in 1917), and a lot of original brass fixtures with crystal shades. there's one waterfall fixture in particular that we could probably sell for upwards of $500 if we wanted to, but the wall sconces and pendant lamps are all in the $100-200 range. original door hardware is something to watch for as well.
  2. i'm through the first 4 or 5 episodes. it hasn't grabbed me yet, but the premise so far is kinda interesting. and the scenery is very pretty.
  3. this sentence is better now.
  4. I powered through it. Naproxen sodium, two red bulls for the caffeine, and a couple imperial stout seems to have warded off the headache. Still a little jittery though. But that might be the booze.
  5. it's been years since i've had one of these fuckers. starts with a headache, then i get all jittery and my hearing starts to get muffled. next, the vision starts to tunnel up. eventually, nausea causes a vomiting fit. then i drag my battered ass to bed and hibernate until it passes. i'm at the jittery phase right now. this is not how i wanted to spend my day.
  6. It's tin. It runs about 2/3 of the way back, and the rest from there to the back is wood planks. The wood is where there used to be a giant cooler, back when the place was a butcher shop in the 1940's.
  7. I'm old. I don't know when these things are live. But apparently the bartender does this every Sunday night.
  8. This poor old fella has no idea he's on Reddit now. I'll have to show him tomorrow.
  9. He did, a few times. Still trying to figure out a good angle to parlay it into asses in seats.
  10. Illinois. But you're welcome anytime.
  11. bartender posted a pic to r/pubattlegrounds of one of the regulars watching a live pubg stream the bartender was casting up to the tv. how that was worthy of 27k upvotes, i have no idea. but that's reddit for you.
  12. some is, some is not.
  13. that's ... good.
  14. alright man, let's party. it start when you take off your pants.
  15. i'm not the one accusing 80% of the userbase of being drug addicts.
  16. because you know for a fact that two or three current/former users played in the snow, now 80% of us are all coke heads.
  17. ...you work for the department of transportation? or DOT foods?
  18. how presumptuous. and wrong.
  19. this thread is going places too, i tells ya. PLACES. back on topic kids. i used to wear lanyards at some of the band's shows, if the headliners were important enough to require that kind of access. always got new ones for each show too. i have a pile of them in a long-forgotten box somewhere in my basement. other than that, never had to wear the same one daily for work purposes.
  20. drinking straws are extruded in tube form. so if you think about it, the millions of straws made on one extruder all share the same hole. which is oddly different than how half the metro atl felons have shared fuggs' hole.
  21. november '03. 15 years in november. holy fuckballs.
  22. as a person with a down syndrome family member, i have to object to this. it should be PHOENIX DOWN-syndrome. get that extra S the fuck outta here.
  23. the illinois department of employment security you idiots really expect me to pay an unemployment claim to a person who has never worked for me, and who i've never even fucking met? oh, if the claim was filed in error, it's MY responsibility to protest the claim by providing supporting documentation of non-employment? and just how do you propose i prove someone didn't work for me, huh? you're the fucking department of employment security. you have my company's employee records already, because i send them to you four times a god damned year! i guess it makes sense though. i just got a payment issue fixed, that i've been fighting since march with this same fucking group of idiots. my quarterly UI payment was applied to the wrong quarter. when i figured out why i was getting late payment notices (july), i called them and informed them i had a credit on 16Q4 for the amount due on 17Q1 so they needed to apply the credit to the correct quarter. "oh, we can't do that. you have to file an appeal to review payment status." so i filed the appeal, including sending them payment records and copies of my statements and several other pieces of paper. and they fucking denied the appeal because i "didn't provide adequate supporting documents" (even though i sent them exactly what i was told to send them). by time i got it figured out in december, i was ready to quit the fuckers altogether. so i'm gonna fax this protest off in the morning, and i had better not fucking hear back about any problems with my paperwork or i'm ..... gonna bitch and moan and re-file the shit again. god damn i hate this state.
  24. i'm a fan of nathan's, but i don't usually eat any hot dogs because no one else in my house likes them. love me some beer brats though. old feller in my hometown is a local legend for his deli-made beer brats. whenever we go north to visit, we hit up pat's country store for a couple dozen brats, and we run up to wisconsin for fresh shullsburg cheese and a case of new glarus beer. lovely traditions.
