Since the post was deleted, it was a photo of an article about Charlie Kirk saying children should be exposed to public executions.

The bluesky comment was something along the lines of "Neat trick, but he could only do it once."

Which is why im convinced they have the shooter, but the reality of who it is isnt damning enough for the right to politicize it in their favor. Its gonna take a while to solidify this scapegoat and tie them to this murder.

I tend to think they don't have a suspect in custody because they are completely incompetent. It doesn't take a lot for someone to be smarter than law enforcement. Usually, we'd see the surveillance by now, but they aren't releasing it. We don't even know the race. All we know is that they're using AI to identify them ... that always goes well.

I don't think they would care about facts when it comes to politicizing things, their tactic has just been to flood the zone by lying over and over until it's generally accepted, kind of like how the litter boxes in schools stories never go away. The perpetrator could be MAGA through and through back to 2015 ... but they'll just claim he was just pretending so he could undermine the movement.

Oh no!

Quote

The episode in question features South Park character Eric Cartman imitating Kirk and launching a podcast where he debates people on college campuses. It ends with Cartman attending a ceremony for the “Charlie Kirk Award for Young Masterdebaters.” The episode is still available through streaming on Paramount+.

Nevermind, I don't have cable.

Apparently dc comics fired somebody over a tweet celebrating Charlie Kirk’s demise and the comic they were working on was scrapped as a result

Just imagine how many people would lose their jobs if Trump were to kick the bucket.

This is why there’s no trust in mainstream media because as cold as his words were they were the true answer to the question he was asked.

Charlie Kirk is not the victim here. He’s the symptom and cause of his own death.

Yeah, I mean that's the world we live in where simply telling the truth loses you your job apparently. The way the right is hyperventilating over his comments is just ridiculous.

Meanwhile the FBI director can't figure out whether they've got the shooter in custody or not. Probably starting to regret purging so many of the most talented people there and causing a severe brain drain throughout the department a little right now.

NYP is reporting that they found the gun and it had anti fascist and pro transgender messaging written on the bullets.

Looks like we’re going to have to bust out with the stats on political violence over the last 20 or so  years. Granted they won’t care that their side committed like 80% of all the violence but we gotta do it anyway

that oughta narrow it down 🙄I tried to follow the X link to see the image of the PoI but it wouldn’t load

South Park’s Got a Nut is still available on P+ for those who didn’t see it. Pretty funny episode Cartman as Charlie Kirk was the B story. If CC really wanted to respect him they’d leave it on rotation because it’s what Kirk would’ve wanted

Considering South Park’s response to 9/11 was “Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants” where the main story is all about how Muslims hate Americans and we just need to deal with it, I don’t see it being pulled, or their next episode shying away from it.

The creators might not shy away from it but CC and P+ might. There are a few episodes that can’t be seen on any mainstream platforms because they’re banned.

Charlie Kirk shouldn’t have Muhammad powers. I pretty much forgot the episode even mentioned him by name until all these publications brought it up to clutch pearls.

Yeah he wasn’t actually in the episode just represented as Cartman. BS to pull it

They really are hellbent on painting transgender people as being completely evil. So far I don't see any other place reporting anything specific about what may have been inscribed on the bullets, so I take that part with a tremendous grain of salt, for now. That the left is less inclined to resort to violence shouldn't be surprising, but everyone always believes their supposed side is more enlightened somehow.

People on the left I think tend to be more idealistic though and believe more strongly in trusting the system to go about finding solutions to their problems. Which I gotta say I can't help but find a bit ironic that if you looks at things objectively the left, nowadays especially, seems far more actually conservative if you go by the literal definition of the word than the right. When pushed far enough though, just about anyone is capable of resorting to violent ends.

No one should put their flags at half mast for that asshole

no one should demand a moment of silence and THEN a spoken prayer on congress floor...

but here we are.

The commotion began when Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) rose following the moment of silence to ask that the House also say a prayer for Kirk, according to multiple lawmakers who were on the floor during the incident.

Weird timing. Russia tests its boundaries by sending drones into Poland. On the same day a possible sniper kills one of the biggest right wing influencers in the country, causing the president to swivel back hard to internal enemies.

Admittedly, not likely but we're in that time. Damn conspiracy thoughts.

welcome...welcome.

I really hate that a dude that looks like a face painted on a balloon is getting this much attention.

I never heard of the guy until a few months ago when Turning Point popped up in a news article. I'm sure the majority of people who aren't Gen Z or politics addicts probably never heard of him before yesterday.

I hate to say "these kids today" but I remember when I was the same age as GenZ (1990s-2000s), people like Kirk were generally ignored and didn't get massive followings or influence ... really, Republicans tried to distance themselves from those sort of guys up until the TEA Party. Even then, it took until the end of Trump's first term for these guys to be accepted into the main stream. Shit, I remember being annoyed that the press would barely give coverage to anyone in  politics that wasn't the President or the Speaker of the House.

I really get annoyed by obvious poseurs. It's like watching a real bad high school pay where everyone over acts, but not in a hilarious way.

I like how in America even a dead person has a 4% chance of running for office

There was that dead guy who won an election in the early 2000s but he died during the campaign.

Despite not being particularly attuned to his "influence" on social media, I've been acutely aware of him from at least the end of Trump's first presidency.  If you might not necessarily know his face, you most certainly would have encountered him if you lived near a college campus.  More recently, his organizations conferences have provided a high profile alternative in conservative politics to the usual suspects, attended by the GOP heavyweights including Dreaming Don himself.

In an earlier post, we included a quote from Nancy Mace referring to reporting from the Wall Street Journal that “transgender, anti-fascist things that were engraved in the ammunition and in the rifle that was apprehended” in the investigation into Kirk’s killing.

According to a preliminary internal report circulated inside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, federal and local officials recovered ammunition with the rifle that appeared to be engraved with statements “expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology”.

But the New York Times reports that “a senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation cautioned that report had not been verified by A.T.F. analysts, did not match other summaries of the evidence, and might turn out to have been misread or misinterpreted. In fast-moving investigations, such status reports are not made public because they often contain a mixture of accurate and inaccurate information.”

Honestly, I get why prominent Democrats are expressing disgust about the assassination.  It's not so much that they feel Kirk didn't earn that bullet, as much as a practical understanding that, as high profile figures in a hyper-polarized society, they can just as easily be taken out by a partisan vigilante for reasons that are far less rational than the ones used to eliminate Kirk and his hate speech.

Basically this.  “It’s Ok if my side does it” is bullshit because despite the wishes of some, it’s never JUST your side while the other side lies down and takes it.

Calling Charlie Kirk a troll who’s incredibly difficult to sympathize with (mostly because his history flat out shows he would be laughing out loud if someone killed say, Jimmy Kimmel) and not viewing violence against people we disagree with as an acceptable solution are compatible.

I was able to listen to Cenk on TYT for exactly 30 seconds. He was saying “I don’t want to hear anything about his views. It’s not the point”

are you fucking kidding me. That’s exactly the fuckin point!

I am not cheering what happened but all I feel is it’s ironic

He said things and had views that led exactly to what happened. In most cases “victim blaming” is wrong but not in this case.

this was a dude that said more than once “if I see a black pilot I have to wonder and hope they’re qualified”. It didn’t matter how many times DEI was explained to him. He didn’t care. He still spread misinformation about it and made it much harder for Black professionals and other groups to be seen as deserving and competent to be in their positions.

You're right, but even so, those people are intentionally turning a blind eye to a direct cause.

My braindead take is trolling is fine on the internet where you can back off when needed or if you're a coward, just rely on anonymity....but when you're a public figure, trolling entire groups of people, with your face plastered all over your particular brand of trolling to the point it becomes a reality that people use to identify you...well, you kinda ask for it. I'm not saying it's right, but that's what it is.

His base of gen z angstbabies now see that all that big shit talk can follow with consequences, and its his wife and kids crying...not the multiple demographics he attacked....Its not worth it just for clicks and reacts.

I'll celebrate the fact he's dead, and I hope his death was as protracted and painful as he would deserve, but I'm not going to take joy watching it happen. I'm not even sure I have the stomach to watch it at all.

Any celebrating is and always will be personally directed spite after the fact
