I’m then wondering how a nation watching carefully curated cartoons from the state about state approved stories and low fantasy realism would react to Demon Slayer, supernatural fighting, and Kanroji’s funbags. Uh, where was I going with this? Right, Russia apparently warned the US not to get involved and in a rare rebuke Trump told Russia to go to the table with Ukraine before trying to order him around. He’s clearly had a rough week with no one coming to his birthday party. Edited June 18 by Jman 7 Quote

tsar4 Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Remembering back in the late 80s when a friend at college said she was thinking about going overseas some day. I got a weird feeling & told her that she should be very careful, because I could see a time when Americans would be seen as the root of all the world's problems. Seems like that time is very, very close. 4 1 Quote

CountFrylock Posted June 24 Posted June 24 maga have led so many folks to think politics are inherently troublesome to discuss and it’s better to avoid talking political discussions entirely the problem is politics dictate our lives our society we can’t ignore them and avoid talking about them Im tired of people thinking you can just pretend politics don’t exist and it won’t bother you 3 Quote

It's so weird how Russians just accept the changes to that, or about anything. One person was like, "sometimes you have to do challenging things that hurt some people in order to make society better." I'd like to think that Americans are in general more vaccinated against such forms of thought policing, but reality itself is hard to gauge nowadays. Quote

Just wait for the backlash to this administration next election. People are going to be so anxious to rid themselves of DJT & his ilk, that they'll vote for just about anyone without totally vetting them as long as they say the right things. 2 Quote

I’m still of the belief that I expect Rupert Murdoch will croak before 2028 and when that happens, there will be a lot of changes not to how the GOP acts, but how effectively they can deny, deflect, and distract. A lot of this boils down to the information machine the conservatives have built. Edited June 28 by Jman 3 Quote

It's going to take a long time, if ever, to stop wondering if the majority of people around me are one of the three type of trump voters: Idiots, Assholes or Lunatics. I live in a state that gave him more than 60% of the vote last time and a country that gave him more than half. I've really lost any sort of faith that Americans have wised up or are even paying attention (which it seems most of them really aren't). If DJT isn't there, what's to stop the next authoritarian opportunist to find that sore to poke that fires up people to go to the voting booth and punch themselves in the teeth and be happy about it? We're going to be stuck with future president-kings because of the supreme court, whose composition is probably not going to change for a very long time. Righwing and Social Media are still going to be allowed to spread disinfo and propaganda due to "freedom of speech." Nobody is willing to put limits on AI, which is just going to keep blurring reality and fiction. Plus, a lot of the MAGA goons and billionaire sycophants are going to still be in the House and Senate for years to come. On top of that, there's no real will to do anything about it, just a bunch of people who think "we should've done that first!" I just might be having one of those days. 1 Quote
