link? other than this?

Still working for me.  Try going on Bluesky @Chadloder and look for a short vid of a black SUV backing up with it's door open.

A WRITTEN SUMMARY!

imagine you're watching a cell phone video of an unattended, unmarked SUV with no plates that was left in reverse on a suburban-looking street with palm trees

the unmarked SUV slowly rolls backwards with its driver door ajar - the presumption being that the driver jumped out in a real hurry (shock and awe?)

after five seconds, you hear the dull thud, scraping of metal, and creaking of the hinge as the SUV's door makes contact and runs along the side of a parked car (taking out the car's side mirror in the process) over the course of six seconds after which the door hinge tries to snap back from its over-extension

at this point, the vehicle is about to reverse into the intersection with the main street as a man in a black t-shirt with a tactical vest frantically runs back to the SUV to jump in and slam the brake

image.png

as he drives the vehicle forward, you see him try fruitlessly to close the door - its overextension in the collision makes it impossible - and then the video ends as the driver parallel parks the SUV

I could be wrong, but I think the SUV was a Range Rover.  Hope it was a rental, cause you know the administration ain't gonna pay the bill to fix it - it will all be on the cosplay bounty hunter.

Unfortunately, sounds like ICE will just detain and try to deport him once again even if he gets released by the court. Of course the government already appealed this ruling, but the judge already acknowledged given the circumstances it's little more than an academic exercise what the court determines regarding his detention. Makes me wonder why they even bothered filing charges against him, but then I know it's just all just a show to them to try and save some face from having to give in and bring him back at all. Just stomach turning how they've used this case to make a complete mockery of the court system and turned this man's life into a sad spectacle.

Remembering back in the late 80s when a friend at college said she was thinking about going overseas some day.  I got a weird feeling & told her that she should be very careful, because I could see a time when Americans would be seen as the root of all the world's problems.

Seems like that time is very, very close.

My Afghan friend's sister is currently on a flight back to Afghanistan. I am very worried. 😬

There are no direct flights to Afghanistan because of Trump's travel ban, so she will transfer in Istanbul.

Eventually, they'll rule that the existence of SCOTUS is unnecessary and disband themselves.

This is like the 2nd or 3rd time this SC has allowed fucked up behavior to continue, I guess until they hear the case and make a decision themselves. This court is a fuckin disgrace and there has got to be a way to throw puppet justices off the bench

maga have led so many folks to think politics are inherently troublesome to discuss and it’s better to avoid talking political discussions entirely

the problem is politics dictate our lives our society  we can’t ignore them and avoid talking about them

Im tired of people thinking you can just pretend politics don’t exist and it won’t bother you

I feel sadly we're not far from another George Floyd-like tragedy. Seeing the video of the agents on top of this guy, and them punching him in the face while he's planted against the pavement, it's really hard not to think that's where we're headed. The piss-poor treatment this man's purportedly received according to his one son since being taken into custody though just further roils me. Heard him on TV saying his dad still had blood on his shirt and his injuries hadn't been treated at all. His father told him he was being held in like a cage with like 60 other people with just a single toilet and they were barely receiving and food or water. What they're doing to these people is just freaking barbaric! It's third world shit. It's no wonder they're blocking members of congress from having unannounced access to these holding facilities.

I just brushed over it, but I wouldn't be surprised if these brothers voted for Trump.

I work at a nonprofit and there we have a lot of Hispanic people who weren't born in the US or their parents weren't ... almost 90 percent of them said they planned to vote for Trump last year, this includes the women. It seems there was a lot of "well, I got mine and my so-and-so isn't a criminal so I'm good."

I saw a video about Russia rehabilitating Stalin last week. It's so weird how Russians just accept the changes to that, or about anything. One person was like, "sometimes you have to do challenging things that hurt some people in order to make society better."

I'd like to think that Americans are in general more vaccinated against such forms of thought policing, but reality itself is hard to gauge nowadays.

No? Just wait for the backlash to this administration next election.  People are going to be so anxious to rid themselves of DJT & his ilk, that they'll vote for just about anyone without totally vetting them as long as they say the right things.

Hoping these words won’t be eaten and thoroughly digested.

I’m still of the belief that I expect Rupert Murdoch will croak before 2028 and when that happens, there will be a lot of changes not to how the GOP acts, but how effectively they can deny, deflect, and distract.

A lot of this boils down to the information machine the conservatives have built.

It's going to take a long time, if ever, to stop wondering if the majority of people around me are one of the three type of trump voters: Idiots, Assholes or Lunatics. I live in a state that gave him more than 60% of the vote last time and a country that gave him more than half. I've really lost any sort of faith that Americans have wised up or are even paying attention (which it seems most of them really aren't). If DJT isn't there, what's to stop the next authoritarian opportunist to find that sore to poke that fires up people to go to the voting booth and punch themselves in the teeth and be happy about it?

We're going to be stuck with future president-kings because of the supreme court, whose composition is probably not going to change for a very long time. Righwing and Social Media are still going to be allowed to spread disinfo and propaganda due to "freedom of speech." Nobody is willing to put limits on AI, which is just going to keep blurring reality and fiction. Plus, a lot of the MAGA goons and billionaire sycophants are going to still be in the House and Senate for years to come. On top of that, there's no real will to do anything about it, just a bunch of people who think "we should've done that first!"

I just might be having one of those days.
