Very rarely do I go anymore unless for something special.

I used to be that guy to preach for them to still exist, but the theaters themselves have gone all the fuck downhill. Fuckin’ up showtimes frequently without notifying, dead staff; I don’t get onto them about filth as much as everyone else but it happens.

A-List is a gift from God.

Usually go on average once a week. Can walk out at any point if there's too many assholes in the crowd and try again another time at no cost.

I almost exclusively go to the movies by myself too, which makes things way easier.

Yeah...

Because some movies are best viewed on the biggest screen possible.

My wife and I went to a matinee and saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last fall, that was my only adult movie trip since 2016 or something like that. Movies in general ... I usually take my kids to the $5 midday matinee of kid flicks the theatre runs during the summer. Will probably do it again this summer.

I don't know if it was because I was a teen who went to the movies 1-2 times a week in the 90s but I just find the newer flicks too noisy, too cookie cutter and too fan servicey. I kind of liked going to the movies and watching Striptease one week and Independence Day the next and that being it instead of nonendings teasing the next sequel.

It's been so many years I genuinely couldn't tell you the last movie I've seen.

Straining to think about it, maybe a screening of Lost In La Mancha at the little independent cinema that shows old movies and foreign & "art house" type new releases. I think that was early 2020 right before covid, but if it was 2019 then I might have seen something else in a normal theater after it.

So I guess it's been more than five years. Damn.

I have not been to the movies since 2017.

at first it was a financial thing, I just couldn’t afford it… then I moved and didn’t have time… then that bumped into Covid… and then just a general falling out of following movies due to a lot of disappointment… and now I’m back in it being a financial thing. However, that should be improving soon and getting back into the habit of going at least once every couple of months is one of my goals for the year.

I still do. In fact, I actually have something planned for tomorrow. My last trip was to see the new Naked Gun in August.

Update: Went to see the new Mario movie a month ago. Think I'm gonna try to hit I Love Boosters next...
