Appliances don’t last long at all these days. I remember the fridge I grew up with lasted probably from before I was born until my mid-20s, at least. Now, you’re extremely lucky to get about 10 years out of ‘em. It’s all a scam. I’m sorry this happened, though.

Yeah, something like 8-10 years is the life expectancy.  Just replaced mine last year after that long.

I didn't drain it every year like you're supposed to, though.

I never drained mine either, but it was supposedly new when I bought the house 7 years ago..

You have to drain it yearly because there is a sediment build up from your water.

I know that now that I've been looking into water heaters but that information doesn't do me much good now lol. Noooooo my wallet! 😔

Yeah, it probably wouldn't have made a whole lot of difference.  Might have given you an extra year at most.

You pay for longevity anymore.

 

They're really not hard to swap out though. If you keep your wits and are inclined enough to understand basic plumbing and possibly electrical. an unexperienced person can have it done in a few hours. If you are second guessing yourself at all though, get a professional.
