My brother: “Hey. Would you mind watching [my niece] for a few hours on Saturday?”

Me: No problem. I don’t have any plans Saturday.

Him: Great. Thanks. We’ll be there around 6am.

…………..Who does that? On a friggin’ Saturday, no less……

I have learned that when doing good or charitable deeds, to not expect anything other than being taken advantage of. That is not a bad thing, you just have to realize that most people will fuck you, and not in a pleasurable way.

You are not kidding. The 6am thing is not even the worst part. He has to work tomorrow, and doesn’t get off until 7 or 7:30pm. It is going to be a VERY long damn day.

I should write up a bill for him before I go to sleep.

But I am already in bed with the lights off. *sigh*

is she still little enough to take naps?

nap time is sweet relief

She’s 12. I doubt she still takes naps. The easy solution would be to plop her in front of the TV all day…..if I had a TV.

Make then buy you a new tv!

That’s exactly what this is. It’s alright, though. He’s gonna owe me. I just haven’t decided what yet.

Wait....You're going to have a 12 yr old with no TV?

You do have a comp or other internet device she can use, right?

RIGHT!?!?!

All I have is my phone. And she’s not touching that. She’s got her own phone, though. I’m not too worried about entertaining her. The hours, though. Family or not, I should get paid for this.

He's right you better hope that phone has unlimited data with the carrier or something...

It does have unlimited data….and it’s connected to my home wi-fi. Plus, it’s got a passcode she’s not gonna figure out.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about her phone, not yours. But if you let her connect to your wi-fi, data is a non-issue.

Oh, my mistake. She can use my wi-fi all she wants. It’s unlimited.

Not really.....When i first moved here I had like 500 gigs of wifi through Cable 1 because they had a monopoly over the internet in Southern OK.....It was like my house has a shitty phone plan....Imagine gaming, or watching a movie (well, you'd be ok if it fineshed buffering.) and your shit just cuts off....Stupidest service ever.

Give an inch, take a mile.

I'm in a similar situation with my coworker and giving her rides home. The past two times, she invited people. I'm not a taxi driver. I'm giving her a bullshit excuse today, and in the future I'm not doing carpool shit unless I become friends with the coworker, which has happened in the past too at a different job and ended more amicably. I've been giving this woman rides because she complained to the boss that her uber fare was too expensive and he suggested asking me to help. I checked and she can learn how to use the bus, but she said she doesn't know how. Not my problem anymore.

You offered to give her a ride, not her friends.  Fuck that. I’d demand money if it happens again.

What you gotta do is load up your back seat with boxes of old magazines and pretend like you’re storing them in your car.
