Ukraine war latest: Ukraine joining Nato 'would guarantee World War Three', says Russia

..I sure do hope the intensely vivid dream I had last night about Sarah Connor's life growing up and learning all of her tactical skills wasn't any sort of premonition...

See, I should be shocked that Tulsi Gabbard once went on Joe Rogan's podcast, AND YET.

At first I was shocked she even popped up after all this time, then I realized it was an election year and that i wouldn't have been surprised if I had not forgotten she even existed.

Elon Musk, now under investigation by multiple US agencies after personally speaking with Putin, has decided he will no longer provide communications services to Ukraine.

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/10/13/politics/elon-musk-spacex-starlink-ukraine/index.html

Quote

Though Musk has received widespread acclaim and thanks for responding to requests for Starlink service to Ukraine right as the war was starting, in reality, the vast majority of the 20,000 terminals have received full or partial funding from outside sources, including the US government, the UK and Poland, according to the SpaceX letter to the Pentagon.

[...]

Musk on Friday said that in asking the Pentagon to pick up the bill for Starlink in Ukraine, he was following the advice of a Ukrainian diplomat who responded to Musk’s Ukraine peace plan earlier this month, before the letter was sent to the Pentagon, with: “F*** off.”

“We’re just following his recommendation,” Musk said on Friday, responding to a tweet that referenced CNN’s reporting and Melnyk’s comments, even though the letter SpaceX sent to the Pentagon was sent before the Twitter exchange.

15 little known facts about Ukraine

Apparently the attempts at culture erasure go way back...

"In the course of Russification, Russian officials have distorted many Ukrainian surnames.
For example, in the nineteenth century Ukrainian family of the Chekhs became Chekhov for some reason.
Grandfather of famous writer Chekhov was still Chekh, and writer Chekhov wrote that his grandfather was Ukrainian.

Quite funny Deinecks turned into Denikin. Cossacks Rozumy became Rozumovsky, Tchaika become Tchaikovsky. Petro Chaika,
grandfather of Petro Tchaikovsky, the great composer – graduated from the Kyiv Mohyla Academy and was sent to the Russian
government headquarters in Vyatka. Probably the Ukrainian atmosphere in the Tchaikovsky family was much better preserved than
in the Chekhovshom; from the age of 24 almost every year the future composer lived in Ukraine for several months where he wrote
more than 30 pieces, among them – the opera “Koval Vakula” (also known as Cherevichki), Mazepa, song-romance “Cherry Garden
Blossom by the Hut”, musical parts for the poems by Taras Shevchenko.

In the brutal times of the onset of the empire onto the Ukrainian language, he sought staging of Taras Bulba by M. Lysenko and used
many Ukrainian folk songs in his masterpieces."

They fixed their lack of targeting systems!

Two thoughts on these things.

While they are very likely being directed through an encrypted signal, those can be cracked and hacked. It's a bitch but it can be done and I wouldn't be surprised if someone is already working to figure it out.

And, related story time. The airport near here has a drone catcher. If you are stupid enough [ or just didn't realize such things exist :D ] to send up a hobby drone into any airspace where planes usually pass, the drone catcher hijacks the drone. It flies it safely to some jail for drones near the airfield. I wonder if it's possible to use that catcher tech to at the very least draw those cheap drones into a specific area and away from civilian target areas.

First thing, they need to capture one...oh wait, they did 3 days ago...

Hopefully, they can work out an override that sends them back from whence they came.

Furrealz tho- russia will take all of Ukraine by spring. They're going after their heating infrastructure and will freeze them out during the winter, america will stop all support once Republicans take over. We will have pulled out of and attempting to disband NATO by summer, and Putin will attempt to take Poland.

It's very possible. I don't want this to happen but it is very possible. Russia is very clearly targeting civilian targets and that will be very debilitating for morale. All it will take for the GOP to take over in the midterms and they will block any support to Ukraine.

I am hoping it doesn't happen but it could happen. Sorry so many folks disliked your post but we need to acknowledge that this is one of the main things at stake for the '22 and '24 elections.

It was completely fine until it went off the rails with the bit about attempting to disband NATO and Putin invading Poland.

"As we have stated before, our ideology is America First, and I may have slept during...most of my schooling but the Ukraine is not part of America."

I'd attribute this joke to somebody but that would require choosing from multiple politicians that probably think the same thing.

Trump getting elected and fucking up the Supreme Court was considered to be a joke and impossibility. We need to take this shit seriously or they will happen.

No, it wasn’t considered impossible.  Unlikely, yes, but there was plenty of warnings in polling data about Hilary not connecting with voters.

Predicting wildly fantastic scenarios  with no statistical underpinnings is not something to take serious.

Trump is a pretty big indicator. I consider Sponges to be a pessimist in this, but he's not just making shit up. There's precedent. And we need to avoid these outcomes at all cost. We are on the verge of becoming a christo-fascist ultranationalist state in the coming years. We need to keep MAGA candidates and the like out of power. They will give Putin the advantages he needs and isolate us considerably from the global community.

In keeping with this topic… how do you sequence Putin taking over all of Ukraine?
