How did you know that's the reason he's collecting them?!  Amazing!

Does Packard know you've been stealing from his mattress stash? >:(

But serious time, those are pretty neat. Most older bills, especially 'dead' ones like the Confederate ones, just ended up as so much paper pulp in the end.

Is it still a numismatist when it's paper money or is that just for coins?

i think numismatists are coin-only. not sure though.

You would have confederate artifacts wouldn't u

lol i knew someone would try to crack wise. your post was close enough, i suppose.

i was actually given them today. we closed an old bank down last week and these were in the shred pile. a co-worker saw them and thought they might be something, so he grabbed them and brought them to me because i'm a known coin/currency collector at the bank. they're authentic, and they're beat to hell. but i got them into a more presentable state and put them in protective holders.

these are actually my first confederate currency. i have american coins that are older, but paper doesn't really have the longevity that coin does. since they're so beat up they're probably not worth a whole lot, maybe $200-$500 for the set. but i haven't researched them all enough to know if any are particularly rare and valuable. oh well, my investment at this point is a couple hours of personal time and $5 worth of currency holders, so it's a win.

exactly. poof can joke, but if you're a collector, even confederate currency holds historical significance. the signatures and serial numbers on those notes are all written by hand. the notes were cut by hand. that shit's 150+ years old. i think it's pretty interesting.

We've gotten a bunch of brand new dollar bills from the bank recently.

All crisp and sandpapery.

i got this crispy boi 9/11 serial from the bank the other day. brand new, no folds, blah blah blah.

Ok, let's try something else.....I was asking how much hypothetically would you sell them for.

Actually...That's a dumb question.  Unless gifted them, there is no real way I would possess them

i'm not really sure what they're worth yet. hypothetically, i wouldn't be interested in selling them, but i would be happy to donate one to another collector under the right circumstances.

Well, that knocks me out....I'm not actually a collector, but those are something I would actually pass down

"Confederate States America"? Did they decide "of" is a word only used by yankee bastards?

Looks like most do say of. It's just really small and on an angle.

Nice find. There is an old Civil War fort about an hour away, and they used to sell Confederate money. I have some somewhere. I collect coins mostly, and not a huge collector, but I have some from all over the world.

Are you sure that's what that is? I'm on a fucking computer and that doesn't look like writing to me.

Yep. I'm on a computer too. If you zoom in, you can make out ''of.'' But it is slanted.
