They don't need to be a science. it's our stupid society's fault for only valuing STEM majors. our problems are not going to be solved by stem majors. they're just creating more problems at this point. we have humanity problems bc we only fund the stems and cut everything else. like our current problem of information overload/oversaturation/fake news/other info related bullshit. i think it's hilarious and we deserve exactly what we get bc the least pursued major in the US is library science which deals exactly w/information queries and organization. be proud you're not a stem

That covers, english, theater, art, philosphy. And the social sciences also cover anthropology, gender studies, politics, psychology etc. They honestly switch around these subjects all the time. Students recently got an email that that said they are switching economics to STEM, and you can get a computer science degree as either an Engineering field, or liberal arts. The difference in classification is GPA requirements. It just doesn't really make sense at all. lol But lately, attitudes have been changing in the career sector in the bay area. It seems a humanities degree is a hot ticket because it separates you from the tons of people here who get computer science degrees for the silicon valley. I am pursuing a minor in computer science because I am interested in computer work, but mostly hoping to find a job I am happy here in my home region. I think it is great too that we are finally embracing humanities to work companies that have a profound impact on society. It might help direct us to a better future. But idk. https://www.forbes.com/sites/georgeanders/2015/07/29/liberal-arts-degree-tech/#31b7ac4b745d https://www.eab.com/daily-briefing/2019/01/23/the-jobs-humanities-majors-are-taking-in-silicon-valley 1

That's really good to hear that they're finally seeing the value in those degrees tho 1
