Layne Staley or Kurt Cobain

I know this should be in the music folder, but I want this to get a few replies.

People like you are why the music folder is dead.

Kurt Cobain was a better song writer lyrically but Alice in Chains had better music

Whale and Wasp is my favorite

I feel like Kurt just made shit up. Dude was crazy talented but when I listen to alice in chains I really feel the lyrics. Idk I'm an idiot anyway

Lane Staley was the better vocalist for sure. I'm not really a big fan of cobain's writing either so I could take or leave that aspect. Think him and Nirvana are grossly overrated in general tbh.

You're the only one that shares my opinion so far.

Layne Stanley had some great song lyrics

Man in the Box

Would?

Actually, I still give props to Cobain as the better songwriter but Jar of Flies is my fav album of all time  Rotten Apple , Nutshell....very good songs

Gonna have to give the edge to Cobain because he could sing AND play the guitar. :P Layne Staley was definitely the more talented singer though.

Oddly enough I was actually thinking about Kurt's objective lack of singing talent today... and I might call him "the best bad singer ever." Sometimes people who can't sing in an objectively good manner inject enough passion and / or originality into what they do to magically turn it good and worthwhile. Kurt Cobain was one of those singers.

I've never been a big Megadeth fan, but I like some of their songs. And Dave definitely does inject a lot of passion and originality in his voice. I actually saw an underground band called Archer Nation at a bar recently and the singer did a dead-on Dave Mustaine like voice. They even covered Tornado of Souls. I liked his voice more than I remember liking Mustaine's. xD Maybe it's time I give Rust in Peace another shot. And finally give Peace Sells a shot too.

Peace sells is dope. This is gonna sound horrible but he was way better when he was doped up.

When I got it I knew nothing of metal. I was all into the alternative rock scene of the early - mid 90s on MTV, and MTV played More Human Than Human a lot, and my brother had it too, so... :D

Yeah I heard La Sexorsisto (sp), and I was disappointed with it at the time. Thunderkiss 65 is a cool song though.

The first time I listened to that shit I got excited because there were sexual moans on it. I beat off to skinimax that night

Nah man, I agree, and I'm not even that big a fan of Queen or Freddie Mercury. But from a purely objective stand-point, Freddie Mercury was probably the greatest singer in all of rock music history.

Watch Bohemian Rhapsody if you haven't already. Even though you're not a big fan, it is a remarkable movie. The acting is spot on.

I always thought Nirvana was great and all, but if I could only pick one of the two to listen to forever, give me AIC every time.

Layne was also in a band called Mad Season, but I've never listened to their music.
