Age of S'jet Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 I'm about to work somewhere else, much greater pay, full medical, pension, etc. But it's my first time dealing with a union. I start tomorrow, anything to worry about or know ahead of time?
midnight Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Can't help you here. Most places I worked were anti-union. But I know several people who praise unions. Iron workers, welders, electricians, etc. Those hard working, dirty, can curse you out without taking their cigarette out their mouths types.

Raptorpat Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Pros: Better pay, hours, benefits, representation in labor disputes, you aren't stuck negotiating for yourself Cons: probably not merit pay, seniority rules the day, you can't negotiate for yourself

Mr Owl Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Don't expect any protections for your first 90 days in the union

Swimmod_Luna Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Been in 2 unions at 2 different jobs. Can't really complain but also can't really say I notice too much of a difference now in my non-union job.
PhilosipherStoned Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 (edited) I was asked to join a law enforcement union one time, but I didn't like their campaign. Edited March 20, 2019 by PhilosipherStoned
