I hate how I never get to listen to this song again. R Kelly's been on my shitlist for years, and while I already understand how little people care about black girls being hurt by predators like him, it's still astonishing to see him keep his career after so many years of this shit being out in the open. R&B stations still leave out Left Eye's rap parts in TLC's songs, but they'll gladly play R Kelly songs back to back.

I've noticed that in waterfalls, without googling... Why did they do that?

Also, in the Philly area here, people still vehemently defend Cosby.

To be fair, like literally EVERYBODY hated Chris Brown after those photos of the battered Rhianna came to light.

Pearl clutching and laziness. Some pop and r&b stations have had strict "no rap" policies since back in the day so they always got TLC songs without Left Eye on them. Since those versions are easier to find, the stations that do allow rap are just too fucking lazy to get the songs with Left Eye's parts.

Radio stations are obnoxious. Your standard "I Heart Radio" nonsense will get rid of the rap sections of songs like with TLC or Jay-Z's part in Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie", but they will never stop playing "Ignition Remix", and around the same time as "Suit & Tie", R. Kelly's verse on Lady Gaga's "Do What You Want" would be left in for about a year until a version came out with Christina Aguilera swapping him out.

But pop radio's deathly allergies to the rap parts on pop songs is nonsense.

Am I crazy, or is this the first I've ever heard of this happening?  I mean, maybe KIIS is different because it's a flagship station, but I've yet to hear rap being cut out of any pop tunes.  I've never heard "Suit & Tie" without Jay-Z - it's not ground breaking rap, but it's too integral to the song to just cut out.

They used to do it alot to Katy Perry where you would have versions of California Gurls and E.T. without Snoop Dogg or Kanye West aired on the radio because rap was a big no-no for the pool party radio stations. I know there's other examples too, but it's something I've encountered whenever I've been stuck listening to those stations.

I have no way of gauging the extent of this, of course.  It would be absurd for a Los Angeles market station to cut out songs in the birthplace of west coast rap. Heck, "The Next Episode" and "Califronia Love" have never left the rotations on any of the Top 40 stations here.
