And now I'm cynical again, so I want to make a comment about how Toonami fans used to discuss the actual shows rather than technical aspects of the schedule, even though that's blatantly false.

Seriously, does anyone find this sad? :|

I miss when episode threads had actual commentary and discussion and weren't a shitty real-time chat feed.

Well yeah, there's that. But at least the talk is about the shows, rather than banal logistics.

I sometimes pepper up the Trunks thread with some of my recent thoughts, so I'll have to do another post soon.

Also, now I have the same number of posts as the title of a Van Halen album!

Lucky you. It'll probably be a long time before anyone gets to 90,125 posts, and I'll probably be old and senile by the time I rack up that many.

I can't imagine they'd run a marathon on the 30th if they already knew the next week was getting hijacked. Plus I'd assume that if they had any plans of doing a July 4th marathon, it would have been on the 7th anyway since that seems to be the weekend most of my local places are doing their extra stuff.

Man, blocking Zeni was the best decision of my life. Now I only see his comments when people are already throwing insults at him.

90125?? Try 5150.

Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball Super, My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Naruto: Shippuden, Space Dandy, etc.

With a few exceptions (Hellsing Ultimate, Parasyte, Gundam Unicorn, for example) that were aired by the few rationale people working at the network, the Adult Swim version of Toonami is barely more mature than the Tom 3/4  CN Toonami that preceded it. 😐

It's actually rational, not rationale.

I know that, it's my stupid cell phone's word selector thing. Anyway, Toonami's creepy, just wants prepubescent viewers, won't even show Hellsing or Parasyte level badassery anymore, just a bunch of shonen.

Hellsing fucking sucks.

And Owl was referencing Van Hagar.

Oh yeah, that was a Sammy Hagar-era Van Halen album!

Them's fighting words! Hellsing Ultimate was the bomb! The Satelight and Madhouse episodes were masterpieces and the Graphinica/Kelmadick episodes were still awesome! Why Drifters has yet to show up on Toonami is beyond me, but acquiring something like that would sure as hell shut Zenigundam's annoying ass up!

Wow, I think this is the first time Toonami (marathon or not) is going to get preempted since it came back in 2012.  It's my hope that Toonami just won't run a 4th of July marathon, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

2017, April Fool's Day, the first hour-and-a-half of Toonami was shut off by the Rick & Morty Season 3 premiere ep repeated the previous day. Other than that, this is unprecedented.

Eh, if it happens, then it happens.  I watch most of my anime online, anyway, so if Toonami does end up cancelled at some point then I'll just pick up wherever the shows left off online.

No statements about Toonami's cancellation. Get those comments outta here. Now.

That's wrong. It's always supposed to be capitalized, when referring to the band. It's even that way in the EDs of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Parts 1 & 2!

Well, I suppose it's actually in all caps in this case, but my point remains valid.

2008 was the year Toonami only ran on Saturdays AND was canceled. I remember by that point they had been only on Saturdays for at least a few years.  As for Adult Swim they also aired on weekdays and weekends.

So I guess we've still got a Toonami block of some sort on 7/7 then!

More likely than not, 6/30 doubles up on FLCL Progressive, 7/7 is an FLCL Progressive marathon, and then 7/14 introduces new shows.

But then again, I suppose I could still see FLCL Progressive x 1 on both 6/30 and 7/7, with new shows coming 6/30 to replace DBZ Kai and 7/14 to replace FLCL Progressive...

lazzo is out of touch.

not even saying this in relation to this thread btw, but [as] isn't the same anymore.

It's been that way for a ba-zillion years, but I think AS is starting to turn a corner with Rick and Morty, Mike Tyson Mysteries, and Ballmastrz 9009.

This week I've even seen one of those 4:00 AM fake infomercials that hella cracked me up. It was a parody of the Jim Carrey movie Liar Liar. Normally those 4:00 AM slot shows do nothing for me.

i still catch robot chicken and if childrens hospital is on i make sure to tune in, but they always had a steady stream of new shows that were enjoyable.

it's been a while since i felt that. i haven't really cared to watch rick and morty since the second season, and haven't watched mike tyson mysteries but i'll give that a shot.

been meaning to start leaving it as background noise again anyway.

Have you watched Joe Pera Talks With You? I think it's amazing; the most banal kind of show possible, almost like a slice-of-life anime, is exactly what this network needed. It feels like a direct rebuke of Million Dollar Extreme, and all the other shows that use trolling and political references as their source of humor. Of course, that's not always a bad thing, but anything that gets away from it is something I'll at least try.

I've pretty much only had it on as background noise.
