I would like to add that given the tone of that thread in DF and the pointed aggression to perticular users by the admin, are we starting to have an issue of abuse of power?

the retort after this user created an alt was to say “it was a joke ban” but at no point was the admin “joking” in the thread the user had been banned.

i think their may be an issue where emotions are beginning to drive decisions, rather that turn something that turned rather ugly into something construstive.

it is within our right as users to constructively ask questions regarding rules seemingly made up on the spot. To inquire as to what are limitations are within those guidelines. And we need people in positions of power who can answer these issues, and remove themselves from the equation, without the fear of being penalized.

personally I feel that an apology need be made to a few users. And that it may be wise, for the admin, to take a small break from the site. This can be the site to help you cope with stress in your life and regarding the site itself, but in doing so it should not be taken out on the few users you’ve managed to keep

I'm going to make a couple points before I go to bed:

• the first point is that certain standards shift over time in practice even if they're not changed in writing on the rules page. for example, spoiler tagging certain imagery that is only allowed in DF. as we get reports for that kind of thing, we've been spoiler tagging them. and someone mentioned, KN gave a warning in a previous thread that the next time it would be a ban (though it wasn't posted as a board-wide announcement). I will openly admit that we are not the best at announcing these types of things, because it's a gradual shift based on how what's actually happening (compared with a rule set that predated any real posting activity and didn't contemplate the inevitable results) and by the time it's necessary to articulate we're already being yelled at. 
• second, the porn thing is a liability issue, which I think has been established at this point. KN decided to take a broad approach to this, because as the one running the server, it's just not worth the hassle of nitpicking what is ok to post and when. because it's porn, seriously. if your interest in posting on UEMB hinges on sharing porn and other images, then I'm sorry.
• third, if you are reporting abuse or think mod action is warranted, use the "report abuse" function rather than individually tagging mods and admin. for one, it's really annoying. and for two, it is no secret that KN is the host/back end/site support admin and has zero patience for moderation drama on either side so tagging him was annoying AND stupid to boot. if there is a problem, use the "report abuse" button. if you don't think myself and the current moderation team are sufficient, maybe it's time to look into adding another mod or two, or maybe even another admin.

I don't know what else I have or haven't addressed, so if someone's got a burning question just ask. additionally, I'm willing to just delete the bans from your two accounts (even though as far as I can tell sponges most likely earned it) if y'all just fine with this being done.

Here is the thing, I am not in a position of power with the ability to punish those who hurt my feelings. And if I was and I felt like I was going to ban someone because I was having a bad day and they were getting on my nerves I would probably step away from the site for a bit and deal with it at a later date. I am not allowed to share information about the law enforcement agency requests, only that they exist. I'm not even sure I was allowed to say how many there were.

I could freely give you the information from the lawyer that sent a discovery request, I could even post the entire text of what they said and who they represent. But I wont, because it will just start drama (and was dumb and meaningless anyways).

I just thought it was common sense not to post naked pics of people you don't have the rights to post naked pics to and that solidifying that as a rule was not a big deal.
