If Christianity is right, Mr. Rogers was the second coming of Christ.

Had a conversation with a friend earlier about Won't You Be My Neighbor (coming to select theaters near you starting June 8th), and we were talking about how wholesome and good Mr. Rogers was as a person, and how he just always seemed to be a shining example of what people could be when they legitimately cared about each other, and I came to the conclusion that if Christianity isn't just worship of old myths, and if god was real, then Mr. Rogers would have been Jesus reborn since he was full of endless love and compassion.

Discuss.  Or don't.  No skin off my nose.

Tl;dr but by topic alone...I’d believe it...

Don't worry, you didn't miss much.  The topic just summarizes me coming to the conclusion posted in the header line.

The ironic thing about my knowledge of Mr. Rodgers is that he originally broadcasted out of the local PBS station where I currently live now.

I guess that would explain why WQED is one of the best PBS stations I ever watched.

I mean probably.  Residual magic of that man exists in that station.

I bet he had a dark side.

Or some naughty fetish

I don't think so.

I mean the fetish thing, possibly?  But kept behind closed doors because no one ever came out with stories.

Dark side, completely off the table.  Every single story that every single person who interacted with Mr. Rogers has shared is just about how kind and compassionate and caring and amazing he was.

I guess it's a good thing the bible isn't right then, otherwise the world would've ended back when Mr. Rodgers was still alive

I mean, yeah he did base his show off of his neighborhood and it looks exactly like the Pittsburgh area.

yeah I loved that show as a kid.

If anyone didn't enjoy that show in some way when they were little I doubt the validity of their soul.

The puppets were creepy, if we're being honest.  But Mr. Rogers was the best.

Just got back from watching Won't You Be My Neighbor and bawling my eyes out, but had to revive this thread to point out in the documentary even Mr. Rogers's son says his dad was arguably the second coming of Christ.

A little blind girl wrote the show that she was afraid the fish were going to die because they weren't getting fed. Every single episode after that he made a point to say outloud that he was feeding the fish.

Every year pittsburgh tries to get him added as a saint, but no luck as of yet. I guess the pope just hates kids and good people.

He doesn't need that. Little kids the world over made him one without any 'adult' authority mandating it. That beats anything any adult could come up with.

Plus, sad that no one posted this because it's relevant [although yes, irreverent]

Mr Rogers was a kind, gentle soul with more patience and compassion than any human being I've ever met. The biblical depiction of Jesus wishes he could be that pure.

In all honestly, I think he is just the example of the best anyone could hope to be.

Mr Rogers gave George A Romero his first paid job in film. He directed and was the cameraman for the episode where Mr Rogers had his Tonsils removed in 1960. Later in 1968 he directed Night of the Living Dead, which he didn't make money on due to a copyright issue.

I've actually never used reddit, but as I had mentioned in a post above, even Mr. Rogers's son said the same thing.  So it's not an uncommon thought.  Also I didn't write any kind of story, so the writing prompt thread doesn't mean much.

I'm actually annoyed you're accusing me of plagiarism for having an idea, especially because there's not even a story in this thread.
