I want to get her accustomed to it so I can...that and I would prefer not to crate her when I take her to the vet

My vet only allows cats in crates, my cat hates it.  I wish you luck with this :)

Some cats take to them fine and some never do, ime

One old man cat we had was so chill we walked him along the beach in the wet sand with little waves rolling up. I think having a dog to walk with him helped with that, gave him a buddy to demonstrate how to act normally on a leash.

I really hope she does too...I need her to be normal

That 1000 yard stare. :D

Have you tried giving her treats while she wears that thing? Or immediately after taking it off at least. Maybe help her to accept that it's not a forever thing.

Mine hates her harness with a passion too but she knows that it's the only way I'll take her outside if she really has to go outside beyond the hallway. It also follows us to the vets but since she's now on their Angry Kitty list, we are usually allowed to go directly into an empty room where I can take her out of the carrier and calm her down prior to a vet appearing without having to harness her.

Yeah she had treats during....and I played with her....she would get up to run...get where she wanted to be then.....mysteriously become a frog...

She’s too pretty to go out on her own...someone would steal her

I was afraid for a long time to just let her out, so we got her a harness and took her out a bunch. She would escape sometimes from when we'd open the door so we finally just let her go and she always comes back.

I don’t live in an area like that...it would be really bad

I didn't think we (I really need to start saying I now) did either because I grew up in a lot less populated area then here. All of our cats from growing up just did whenever they wanted and came and went as they pleased.

I’m in an apartment complex surrounded by parking lots and a highway

my cats were violently opposed to any collars, harnesses, or crates....I just carried them into the vets office and sat them in the chair next to me...never had a problem

Yeah I don’t trust the bitch tho

She’s fine when I’m not around but as soon as she sees me she just....frog....

That’s how she always looks in the house...I only get the slits when she sits near the sliding glass door

I only get the slits then too.  It's because they perceive freedom is near.
