Phillies
Just saw it last night. Honestly it was somewhat entertaining but the plot was ridiculous. -
Raptorpat
I feel like the plot was kind of the result of a complex corporate algorithm for what a modern star wars movie should be. They wanted to play it as safe as possible, but the end result was that it kind of didn't have all that much soul to it.

And the next movie doesn't seem promising either.
Cau
I liked it, but I didn't love it or think it was amazing or anything. Better than episodes 1-3 at least, though.

Cau
I thought episode 3 was well done. Personally I though each one was worst than that last, although they did bring in more good characters.
Sandstone
Also, I love the title of the next Episode in the main series..... it's like.... NO REALLY GUYS THIS IS THE LAST ONE THIS TIME WE PROMISE OK THNX BYE
Cau
All I could think is.... even Darth Vader get's edgelord fanboys now... I can admit that Kylo Ren was literally the worst thing ever though.
Sandstone
He was like Anakin Skywalker's edgyness on crack and meth, and without any reasonable justification for it... Like did your fucking mom get raped and die? Were you sold into slavery? Did you get tricked by a master sith? Did anything bad happen to you at all? Nope.... just really upset rich kid that needed to be edgy cause fuck Mom and Dad for giving me a good life and ensuring my freedom in the galaxy. Sandstone
And the fucking name is like sci-fi version of "Kyler" which just irks me for some reason I dunno why but I can't stand these like new age mashup names.
Raptorpat
Personally I though each one was worst than that last, although they did bring in more good characters. I liked the aspect of Rogue One where they brought back prequel characters and locations in the original trilogy setting, because it's not Coruscant's or Jimmy Smit's fault the prequels were bad so we shouldn't pretend they don't exist. That being said, the obvious criticism of Rogue One is that it's entire purpose was to show classic star wars characters, settings and iconography, and that its new characters and plot were completely flat. Or put another way, their only goal was to power the doomsday machine powered by neckbeard nostalgia jism.
Sandstone
It's also going to be the first in a series of what Disney Lucas is calling Star Wars extended universe franchise. So we will likely be seeing more of these peripheral movies made for various things and supported more in the cinema cannon.
enad
I've only watched it once, as the Iron Law of Abrams states that you enjoy JJ Abrams' movies less with every subsequent viewing.
Danger_Jules
Not as good as The Empire Strikes Back, but better than Rogue One and the prequels.
enad
I never watched Rogue One because I found the premise uninteresting.
GunStarHero
Didn't care for Force Awakens. I mean it was really just a retelling of A New Hope in a lot of ways, and not that that's a bad thing I just didn't enjoy it all the more because of that. Felt like Rogue One was better, honestly, but maybe I just really enjoyed seeing Donnie Yen's character.
Top Gun
The Force Awakens was essentially A New Hope remade, but it was at least entertaining, and far superior to anything in the prequels. I'm hoping that after convincing everyone they know how to make a Star Wars movie that The Last Jedi will be more adventurous. Rogue One was just terrific. Yes it was a New Hope remade and entertaining. None of those facts make it a good movie.

blueraven1999
I loved it, but I'm a big fan of J.J. Abrams because of the new Star Trek films so that's why.
bnmjy
I thought it was awfully boring. Just a bunch of cameos for nostalgic purposes. They couldn't make the token black guy more of a token black guy if they tried . . .
Danger_Jules
This would have made Episode VII so much better.
DragonSinger
I thought TFA was all right but definitely preferred Rogue One because that movie was a really good compliment to the original Star Wars movies.

MasqueradeOverture
I'm hoping that after convincing everyone they know how to make a Star Wars movie that The Last Jedi will be more adventurous. It's from the guy who did Brick, Looper, and the Ozymandias episode of Breaking Bad, plus the cast was apparently shocked and confused to what was happening with their characters after reading the script. I'm expecting Empire Strikes Back level shit.

Master-Debater131
It sucked. They threw a whole bunch of stuff at us but really it was the same exact thing. At some point they are going to have to stop using "blow up the death star" as a central plot device.
