Depending on how you count them I probably have...9 or 10 separate copies or versions of Myst. The OG CD-ROM that came with our Gateway circa 1996, the 10th anniversary DVD edition of the first three games, the OG game on both Steam and GOG the OG version of realMyst on GOG that isn't even sold anymore, realMyst: Masterpiece Edition on Steam, GOG, and physically for Switch, the physical copy that came with the awesome Myst linking book Kickstarter prop, the 2021 remake version on Steam...is that all of them? Maybe there's one more in there I don't remember? And that's not even counting at least 3 or 4 copies of most of the other games in the series. (no I don't have a problem why are you looking at me like that)

My dude, if you're going to sit there and call Kids on the Slope of all things "steaming garbage" with a straight face, then frankly you shouldn't be speaking critically about, well, anything. It was a masterful piece of work, widely considered one of the best shows of its year, and it even wound up on some best-of-the-decade lists. And while Carole & Tuesday maybe didn't quite hit those same heights, at the bare minimum it was a solid, competent show with great music. This series aside, anyone claiming that Watanabe "lost his touch" had no idea what the hell they were talking about.

From what I've seen there's not a whole lot of recent stuff in Sentai's catalog that would really fit the block. There are definitely some things that are a bit older, thought. Princess Principal would kick serious ass. Or go retro and correct an old wrong by getting Rahxephon.

Housing Complex C got a lot of hate (or at least a lot of meh), but I genuinely liked it a lot for what it was. That final episode went batshit crazy in the best possible way.

Was hoping it might be a precursor to concrete season 3 news, but nope, of course it's a tie-in to whatever new movie they've crapped out.

Sure, why the hell not I guess. Weird thing though, I still had the subbed version sitting on my DVR, so I recently forced myself through the rewatch for some reason and...didn't think it was that bad as a whole? Honestly its biggest crime was blowing its load early with the awesome fight scenes in the first few episodes, then inexplicably shifting to those dumbass mech suits for the rest of it. I can forgive a lot of dumb plot if there's cool action but that severely slipped.

Wow, only took three episodes to hit peak Bleach. Characters getting arms lopped off left and right. (If you were playing the drinking game you'd already be dead.) Characters getting dumb-looking power-ups that somehow immediately get more dumb-looking. A bunch of new characters who only exist to get offed soon after (in record time no less!) The side we're ostensibly supposed to be cheering for acting like irredeemable fascist assholes--which is really saying something when this time the other side are literal Nazis. Unpronounceable attack names. It's all here. What's cracking me up the most is how this conflict is predicated on the whole "balance of souls" thing. You said it yourself Ben, none of that background world-building shit made any sense from day one, but it was never brought up much after that so whatever, I can deal with that. But now the story's going to act like it's a major issue again? Sure. I mean no one seemed to have any issue with Ishida doing his thing all this time. Man, it's the year 2025 and I'm ripping on new Bleach episodes on the block. It's all I ever wanted. What a time to be alive.

"Occasional spurts of decent animation?" Uh-huh. Try semi-weekly examples of cinematic-quality fight scenes, the type that make you sit there and think "how the hell is this possible 1100 episodes into this juggernaut of a franchise?" What the anime team has done with the source material over the past few years is nothing short of extraordinary. And it goes beyond the raw animation, the show feels so much snappier and more ambitious now than it has since maybe its very earliest days. There's nothing legitimate about any of this CR nonsense, but if there was, there's no universe in which OP doesn't deserve a spot in the best ongoing series conversation.

Tell me you know nothing about the last two or three years of the series without telling me that.

I've written many, many words in the past about how Bleach's narrative fell off a cliff, and I'm well aware of the total clusterfuck that awaits, but despite all that I still couldn't help but have a big dumb grin on my face as soon as I heard IF YOU WANNA SEE SOME ACTION. Of course that gets immediately followed up by the death of a character so irrelevant that literally no one ever bothered to learn his name.
