  1. I tested positive this morning so I know all those negatives from before weren't from misapplication
  2. Half the Twitter posts I saw about this also mentioned it being Putin's birthday.
  3. We both had real bad headaches the day after the shot, but she's genuinely sick as of last night. Coughing, scratchy throat, muted taste, super low energy. She had donated blood yesterday and after testing positive had to call them to "rescind" the donation.
  4. gf has covid, I tested negative but me and babby are sitting ducks we both got booster shots sun (her)/mon(me), so it's way too soon for them to have any benefit
  5. I split this off the elections thread because it seemed worth discussing on its own, but I think the reality is that this came out of nowhere a month before the election. Was just talking to a friend of mine who does ground level campaign stuff and he suggested it means the Dems officially gave up on the House and are willing to abandon moderates to the GOP's crime narrative in exchange for motivating minority turnout (given all the unjust abuses of marijuana laws) to save Warnock and push Barnes over the edge in the Senate. Not sure that I'd go along with his narrative, but it's certainly an election play more than a massive policy shift. Though this might be the first time Biden came out in favor of anything like this.
  6. Don't light it up just yet. The announcement I just read was that he will do it, not that he already has. One hangup though is that he can only pardon for federal possession. So anyone charged under a state penal statute is still stuck with it unless that state also chooses to pardon/expunge. Edit: I probably should have just gone to the source instead of reading Politico: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2022/10/06/granting-pardon-for-the-offense-of-simple-possession-of-marijuana/

  12. The problem is that there are two types of states: elastic states with a lot of voters who flip back and forth from election to election polarized states where voters always back their side 100% of the time New Hampshire is a competitive "elastic" state, where a lot of people flip back and forth based on the national mood and candidate quality. That the GOP couldn't find a quality candidate basically took that state of the map. GA is a competitive 50/50 "polarized" state. Unlike NH, there is no convincing to do beyond convincing your own base to turn out. I recall Brad Raffensperger testified something along the lines that what pushed Biden over the edge (after the high Dem turnout) wasn't GOP-Biden voters, it was that 30K Republicans who voted left the top line blank. So to that end, this isn't going to swing votes, it's a question of whether those 30K are going to leave this line blank too.
  13. I don't think the challenge for Warnock is necessarily to win on election night. His real challenge is to clear 50%+1 to avoid a run off, though the future circumstances of a hypothetical run off would affect who it benefits.
  14. his "October surprise" is literally "he kills puppies"
  15. wow that is absolute trash
  16. Presidents and Congressional Leaders don't communicate legal strategy to SCOTUS, they just confirm people who they know will vote their way on specific issues.
