I personally enjoyed it, and it manages to wrap as much things up as they can to general success. I think you'd like it, though it's a little open-ended and the OVA that serves as the final numerical episode is a flashback that doesn't provide much follow-up.

The DVD order was how they aired it the first two times in 2004 too. Also interesting, each short got its own content rating (TV-14V for Osiris, Second Renaissance, and Program; TV-14 for Kid's Story, Detective Story, Beyond and Matriculated; and TV-PGV for World Record) and, at least for the October rerun, there was no commercial break between the two halves of Second Renaissance. Not sure why they jumbled it up here, but Osiris airing at the end is a creative touch, since it directly leads into the events of the Matrix Reloaded.

We have reached the end of another year, and as per normal (as it has somehow become), it's time for me to list all the individual episodes of things I watched and gave ratings to this year. Cosmo Samurai sort of counts, but wasn't included because I had no clue how to include it: as four mini-episodes or one overall episode. Rewatches of things that were out of fun and not without some sort of purpose not included. Overall, 489 individual episodes. I can do better next year, especially since I'll be more acclimated to my new daily routine of working a full 40 hours a week. [monthly]

Ironically, I'm more willing to watch something on Netflix than take the piracy route with it, if only in that I have access to a legit account that, alongside Toonami and home video releases, makes it so I'm not watching anime via dubious means 100%. Good point, but consider this: the stretch of August to October 2004 was my first real exposure to watching [adult swim] - if only in the form of Venture Bros., Futurama and Inuyasha - and as a direct result, I look back on that period and many of its little details fondly, from the Tokyo bracket bumps (which remain my favorite) to the Aqua Teen ads falsely advertising it as being canceled, all the way to the Animatrix rerun that nobody remembers which I believed to be its network premiere before learning otherwise, and the special one-minute promo made for it that I've seen via my VHS recordings multiple times but have never seen uploaded online. You and the two other people I've had to correct on this are forgiven for not knowing about the October 30th broadcast, because like you said, it's a random rerun old enough to see an NC-17 movie, but you can't blame me for feeling so strongly about its unintentional erasure, at least not without the above context.
