You know I think I’m the only one who gave a straight answer. Clearly I misread the assignment.

It works...sometimes. The problem is overuse. Look, the team will need to get real jobs after this given they’re persona non grata thanks to Toei, so I expect this Patreon to go badly.
-
Unlike LK, who turned his abridging into a VA career, Team Four Star was blacklisted by Toei themselves so they don’t have much of a future in the industry. So...have fun guys.

If only. He’s clearly not equipped for it. Then again he’s not equipped to take on streaming services either.

Original programs cost money. Seriously, if there was ever a time to use that Crunchyroll partnership and get shows from CR to fill slots, now is the time.

MHA gets in hot water over character pun gone wrong
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Backlash continues as Chinese company Tencent (a Chinese mega Corp with a disturbing amount of influence in digital platforms) delisted MHA and ceased production on a smartphone game they were making. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2020-02-05/my-hero-academia-manga-anime-removed-from-chinese-digital-platforms/.156125 -

The lyrics are “In the Navy” The chorus is “YMCA.” Either way it’s not to be taken seriously.

MHA gets in hot water over character pun gone wrong

Japan has a rather...contentious relationship with China and Korea over WWII crimes and their continued refusal to acknowledge them. To so casually have someone named after a war criminal, even if accidentally, stirs up a lot of negative feelings about Japan’s continued denial of those war crimes. -
Short version - A pun for a Doctor accidentally reflected the name of an infamous Japanese WWII doctor who participated in human experimentation. Shounen Jump realized this was done out of error, and to appease their international audience, asked the author to change the name. Outrage mobs want an apology. Haters of woke crowds consider this a betrayal and bending the knee. And the author’s rep has taken a major hit.

I’ll say this much - When your opening is a riff on “In the Navy”, no one is taking the show all that seriously.

The true appeal? For Americans, it hits the same sweet spot as one of the most popular cartoons of the 90’s - Likable characters Longform, compelling storytelling Colorful art and animation And it creates something that not only sticks, but makes people want to see what happens next.

Dr. Stone 1 Orphen 2.

Depends if FUNi wants to sit on the license or if they’re needled by the Japanese company into negotiating a peaceful transfer of the rights to save face with the licensor. Sentai would probably be all over it now.
-
I expect a lot of pundits to bitch about FUNi bending the knee.

The guy who plays Rock Lock in the MHA dub got Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania, Seis Manos) to do his proof of concept for a super robot series called Star Child.

At least they confirmed why Bleach got pulled. Kubo himself pulled the plug because they were going to change too much. To be fair, that Japanese movie wasn’t too bad. Naruto IIRC got optioned and nothing came of it.
