  1. These series (And movies) get optioned and never made. Remember back in the 90’s Alicia Silverstone was attached to a live action Sailor Moon and an executive actually optioned a live action Ranma 1/2.
  2. Fire Force 24 (Final for now). Orphen 1.
  3. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-01-26/steins-gate-game-gets-hollywood-live-action-show/.155796 Considering they also claimed to be working on a live action Sword Art Online that got as far as its rights being sold to Netflix before going silent...
  4. This was such a divided thing back then. It was TV-14 (that’s good!) but live action (that’s bad). Still, the Faithful got to see Jack Nicholson at the museum so it’s worth it.
  5. Fire Force 23 Obsolete 1-2 Saint Seiya 10 Netflix Saint Seiya 7-8 (Unusual I know).
  6. So...nothing new. You know, Crunchyroll’s co-productions are right there. There is nothing stopping you from going to them and asking for the rights to a show like you did for gen:Lock.
  7. Here I thought the PPV was going to hurt it more. The huge demand is pretty obvious, but I guess the lack of college football helped.
  8. Here’s a preview. The rest of Adult Swim meanwhile...exists.
  9. Well it’s competing with a Conor McGregor fight, so the ratings oughta be interesting.
  10. Ah. Well, you can see why it threw me off when you’re showing genuine LBGTQ+ characters. Where were we? Oh yeah, SAO’s Toonami’s Fire Emblem. It shows up and BOOOOOOOO. At least it appears the LA one isn’t happening.
  11. You were doing fine until you listed Ash. That one just made me go...no.
  12. Oda likes three things - Weird body proportions, big boobs, and wacky faces.
  13. Oh Tumblr, assuming everyone is gay and losing your minds when they aren’t.
  14. And of course their big reveal is a...questionable reboot of SBTB. Because Zack Morris is Trash.
  15. https://www.thewrap.com/whats-on-peacock-tv-shows-movies-streaming-service-the-office-nbcuniversal/ https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/16/21068607/nbc-peacock-streaming-service-price-launch-date-ads-universal-comcast-office-harry-potter I am so going to part with my...$5 a month for a Goddamn Saved by the Bell reboot.
  16. I would love to poll a random theatre of people going to see MHA Rising next month and ask how many of them watch the show on Toonami. I would bet it would be between 1/4 - 1/5 of the theatre.
  17. I could rant for hours about the issues with nepotism and insular industries, but you see it in the fact that everything looks the same unless you outsource to Japan, Dungeons and Dragons jokes that no one in the age demo gets because the writers all play it while no one else does, and what is often framed online as veiled threats saying “don’t make fun of our show or you will NEVER get a job in animation.” And yeah, hindsight is 20/20 and all because 2011 Cats was getting ripped into for its unlikable cast and non-ending. But people saw this serious show that didn’t get an ending replaced with the overdone Western bean mouth shows which all use the same jokes, have the same people defending it, and then they wonder why everyone is so mean. It’s gotten to the point where the Teen Titans Go people are going to make an episode entirely about defending Roar from fans of the original and the 2011 remake. https://heroichollywood.com/teen-titans-go-roasts-thundercats/ When Netflix released its top 10 lists for most viewed shows, absolutely none of the CalArts remakes or Avatar clones made it in any category. No She-Ra, no Dragon Prince, (but Boss Baby made it, so yeah), etc. Meanwhile the Colossal Titan mural still greets people leaving Penn Station and Madison Square Garden two months after Anime NYC. This era of cheap western parodies is coming to an end, and I feel like Thundercats Roar will be the tail end of the trend. Especially with WarnerMedia now clamping down on their purse strings and Netflix essentially being All Hands on Deck for their originals.
  18. Most of the anime that hit theatres was the crowd pleasing kind like Promare. So I kind of get it. I haven’t seen any of the short films for animation, so let’s fix that.
  19. We know why they’re upset.
  20. Something I’ve noticed and it speaks to how badly the Western animation industry has fallen off, is that the only people defending the show claim to know people who worked on it, or are clearly angling for a job. It’s nepotism of the worst sort.
  21. https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/13/entertainment/academy-award-nominations-2020-oscars/index.html Joker leads the pack with 11 nominations, and unsurprisingly Film Twitter is furious.
  22. This isn’t a hentai?
  23. Levius 5-8 Fire Force 10-18.
  24. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-01-10/my-hero-academia-heroes-rising-film-opens-in-u.s-canada-on-february-26/.155224 Not much else to say except despite missing Toonami ratings the show has popularity in other fields.
  25. So many of Ben’s complaints just blend together at this point I tend to ignore them. Particularly that one. I must have missed it since I was focused on the other quoteblock.
