Considering DeMarco probably misses Blockbuster, that’s not too far off. The fact of the matter is that Toonami, although they’re taking baby steps, cannot control the market the way Netflix or even Crunchyroll can. They don’t have the budget to join production committees or directly negotiate with studios. DeMarco’s shit taste aside, if a bigger company wants an anime with Americans in mind, it’s easier for them to get the ball rolling. “Here’s money. Go make Kengan Ashura.” Not an option for DeMarco.

I have scoured Youtube for the commercials for that (The Adult Swim Super Nonsexy 5:30 Funtime) and found nada. Which sucks because I found the Saved by the Bell promos. There’s a question - Saved by the Bell or Ballmasterz?

Because 2020 is hell, Ballmasterz returns for more cringe-tastic content, Only Toonami. I gotta tell myself Crunchyroll isn’t doing all that better on the originals front, with one show a laughingstock and FreakAngels likely being quietly shitcanned.

I’m just happy it’s a Japanese studio, and not involving Ellis. Wonder whatever happened to that Devil May Cry series announced in 2018.

That website wasn’t even all the accusations. Netflix, Frederator Studios, Powerhouse animation, and Crunchyroll have all be silent. Silent. Yeah, sure, “you’re canceled! #XIsOverParty!” Yeah, until it’s a show Twitter likes because it has lesbian vampires or whatever the fuck. Just like how The Dragon Prince production was toxic as hell, abusive, but the fans go “#GiveUsTheSaga!” Shove the saga right up your ass and give the money to a Japanese studio. The writers probably won’t be demanding sex for jobs.

I would argue being an attempt to fill air time makes Joe a lot more like Ballmasterz. Except Joe maybe had nostalgia going for it. Ballmasterz only has cringe.

This isn’t something to be proud of.

Let’s face it, we’re in a content drought. No budget + a raging pandemic = Less than optimal scheduling choices, such as mega fail Ballmasterz. But this isn’t the first time Toonami has had to make a block out of less than optimal ingredients. Like when their late night offerings included the Sunbow G.I. Joe - And of course, airings of Y7 edited to hell Cardcaptor Sakura - Any memories of material that...really wouldn’t have been there if the block hadn’t been scraping the couch cushions for every loose piece of change?

Welp, more ratings fail ahoy. You might as well Xavier Renegade Angel reruns. At least that show is funny.

They made Devil May Cry 5 eventually. I know the initial announcement was made in 2019, but the timing for this couldn’t be better given Castlevania’s head writer was outed as a complete sex pest.

Huh. He kinda does.

A proper sequel game is also coming...eventually.

So we have to wait a week and half to be let down.

While he does the Two Heroes film earns millions at limited release. That falls on Toonami no longer being a primary source for material.

Because the guy has focused a lot on what he doesn’t like, without convincing you why you should like what he does. Most Toonami stuff is a case of Follow the Leader, with its hype established elsewhere. The work is done. DeMarco doesn’t need to convince you to watch MHA, the audience has decided it’s the new X-Men. Black Clover has been hyped by Crunchyroll throwing its whole ass into it. Etc, etc. This is why DeMarco having shit taste is a meme.

So...crap. It’s not hard, is it? Even Crunchyroll seems to get it. “Oh shit, people really like our shounen tournament anime but won’t stop sending death threats over our woke shit! Let’s make more of the former and more Shield Hero!”

I’d sooner sell the lot of you on airing AEW reruns at Toonami’s tail end. (Note - I don’t want that).

I want to be optimistic, but at least the Random Netflix Executive’s tastes seem somewhat closer to the average viewer these days. Ok, Poke, (I’m not saying this as any form of criticism, mind you, I honestly want your opinion), what type of show, irrespective of IP, do you think he wants to make?

It being an original concept...that excites DeMarco has my enthusiasm at -2. There’s only so far they can go if it’s made for Toonami and not a premium service or channel. Not to mention the stuff he likes. The Exaxxion joke is old, but what do you think DeMarco would make if given the opportunity and no restrictions? (Then again, I’m pretty sure people would have preferred Crunchyroll made Cannon God Exaxxion instead of Dumbass Aztec Avatar Knockoff).

A complete disaster.

It’s a timed exclusive to try and get more viewers onto the website. Had RWBY not exhausted all its goodwill years ago that show would probably do the same. God of High School, in an ideal world, airs a few weeks behind its dub premiere to entice more hardcore fans to CR and drive casuals to Toonami the same way Baki and Kengan do to Netflix. And since DeMarco hates Avatar, all the little pseudo-Avatar shows have no chance of airing.

Rumors are circling about the cast (probably set to be revealed during the anniversary week for OP) including Lewis Tan as Zoro and Emily Rudd as Nami. Rudd is particularly noticeable as both the OP Netflix account and the showrunner are following her. This is going to be one hell of a debated cast.
