Dana White is buying a private island to ensure UFC 249 goes ahead as planned.

The musical episode made me give up on Dandy. It was cringe, top to bottom. The school festival thing HAS to be an editorial mandate. Especially since there are so many more clever things you can do with an internet streaming villain with a lot of money and taste. Like Arcade for instance. You don’t think Gentle trapping 1-A in Japanese Murderworld wouldn’t be fun?

mha My Hero Academia Episode #82 (419) DISCUSSION!
Jman replied to DangerMouse's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I said it in another thread (got caught up while quarantined) but the whole school festival thing just feels weird after doing their version of “The Cure” from X-Men. It’d be like if next season we get a take on “God Loves, Man Kills”, followed by a super Japanese school activity. -
I did find it interesting we got a very Japanese story following their version of “The cure” from X-Men, and then the Principal breaks the fourth wall to defend it happening instead of more X-stories. It’d be like if next season we get their version of “God Loves, Man Kills”, followed by a hot spring trip.

Everyone’s favorite not-mutants will be returning for another season. Here’s a fun little question, when the X-Men next hit theaters, how much do you want to bet someone slips in a joke about Quirks in it? https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-04-04/my-hero-academia-anime-gets-5th-season/.158250

They overpaid by $44 million... This is why Filmation went out of business. -
Crunchyroll reveals first batch of “Crunchyroll Originals”

This is the new normal. Between Netflix trying to upend the entire damn production committee system and original productions, Westerners want to make authentic anime, rather than the inauthentic imitators that were popular in the early 2000’s. And that means co-productions and hiring foreign talent, because Western writers for animation kind of suck at their jobs in a lot of places. -
https://netflixtechblog.com/bringing-4k-and-hdr-to-anime-at-netflix-with-sol-levante-fa68105067cd Netflix decries the production committee model as woefully inefficient, and wants to create more 4K material from conception.

MHA Seasom 4 1-20. All caught up with the dub. Also holy whiplash. We went from “The Cure” from X-Men to that most Japanese of events, the school festival. Even one of the characters explains why they wanted to do a school festival after the hypocritical Yakuza.

Everyone missed it.

It’ll always be on the verge of cancellation in our hearts.

What Would You Air on Toonami (COVID-19 Edition)
Jman replied to Sketch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
After GXP who would want to see War on Geminar? Fool me once... -
Because at this point the default thinking is “Toonami is going to die any second now”.

That’s not how flattening the curve works.

What Would You Air on Toonami (COVID-19 Edition)

Tis true. If someone does decide to air the proto isekais, either that or Rayearth would be good. -
Rick and Morty do a Lone Wolf and Cub homage.

Lupin never captured American’s imaginations and the Gundam series were airing and doing well on Hulu and Youtube and Netflix. Yamato never had that exposure, which gives it a chance. It‘s probably a good idea to call it Star Blazers 2199 though, so people realize it’s a remake of that. -

Alright, let’s play Fantasy Scheduler. Haven’t done this in years - 11:30 - Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 12:00 - Space Battleship Yamato 2199/2202 12:30 - SSSS Gridman 1:00 - Rising of the Shield Hero 1:30 - JoJo Golden Wind And continue as normal. Mob makes sense at 11:30 if a dub is available. Season 1 aired. Yamato is something that Toonami really should have picked up earlier (I suggested it as early as 2017, as it was a remake of a sci-fi anime that didn’t have complete contempt for the thing in the title). Gridman, again, show they should have aired earlier. It’s Trigger, it’s a loose remake of the show that became Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad which will get some eyes to bug out, it’s really good in the dialog and action. If we have to get an isekai, well, this one has two more seasons coming up, and if nothing else, will get people talking. Given SAO’s success, I could easily see Shield Hero securing a similar audience. JoJo is probably going to be airing because the alternative is rights lapsing and Netflix getting it sooner. -
I generally don’t binge entire shows at once, but what I do appreciate is being able to watch a show 5 days a week vs 1 day at a week. Given Toonami’s origins you would think DeMarco would appreciate that. I’m also not a fan of people ripping the competition in general over their format. There was this belief back when that only Williams Street did it right and if you suggested anything else, you were a hater. Show me what you bring to the table, rather than take shots at others.

Dragonball Z Kai Marathon on April 11th
Jman replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Has DeMarco publicly decried isekai? I know if the dearth continues I’ll continue to recommend he get Shield Hero. All that being said, things don’t have a chance of returning to normal until mid-May. Best thing to do is grin and bear it because it’s effecting everyone. At least Toonami is doing better than the US comic industry. -

One Piece was confirmed for Netflix a week ago as a lead up to the LA version. No word on the debut date.
