I don't have to swerve for anything often around here, but last night as I was driving home down a poorly lit road, at the last second I saw a furry animal right in front of me and scared the shit out of me (scared that I was going to run over someone's poor pet cat) and swerved, and I did swerve in time. The first split instant I saw it I thought it was a cat, but by the time I passed it I realized it was probably a 'possum, therefore probably nobody's beloved pet, and therefore not AS big a deal as if it was a cat, but I still don't want to murder any innocent furry animals if I can help it. And that shock of not noticing I was barreling down on the little guy until the last second lasted with me until like 10 minutes after I got home. Usually when I see animals on the road in front of me I have plenty of reaction time, even in the dark, but that particular street I was on last night is just so poorly lit.
