In light of Rob Reiner's passing, I want to pose a question I've been pondering for a while now.
Is This is Spinal Tap responsible for coining the term "shit sandwich" or did that term already exist before this movie?

Why did they bother to give Simon an anglo name just to pronounce it with Japanese phonetics? Can you imagine if Faye Valentine was pronounced Fah-yay Vahl-en-teen-ay?
I wonder if Simon Belmont from the first two Castlevania games has been See-moan Belmont this entire time...

I'm sorry, but I absolutely refuse to believe that this character's name was not at least partially based on Akira Takasaki, guitarist of Japanese heavy metal band Loudness. Loudness had actually experienced some international success in the 80s. I've bought several of their CDs in brick and mortar stores around California.
