So Gurren Lagann..... Why did they bother to give Simon an anglo name just to pronounce it with Japanese phonetics? Can you imagine if Faye Valentine was pronounced Fah-yay Vahl-en-teen-ay? I wonder if Simon Belmont from the first two Castlevania games has been See-moan Belmont this entire time...

I recently finished my first watch through of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and I just looked up online of all the musical references that made it into the names of characters and abilities and such. I used this link: https://jojowiki.com/List_of_References_in_JoJo Included in this link is this note: I'm sorry, but I absolutely refuse to believe that this character's name was not at least partially based on Akira Takasaki, guitarist of Japanese heavy metal band Loudness. Loudness had actually experienced some international success in the 80s. I've bought several of their CDs in brick and mortar stores around California.
