  1. I never thought about that last part. It'd be a surprisingly elegant way to finish off Primal's rerun without having to change the schedule. I think they'd do double YashaHime first because that's what's been happening in recent Toonami times, but you never know. Heck, maybe we could get a one-off special for the 23rd? Or maybe then can do something really complex and bring on a new show (yeah right), air two episodes of it, and then fiddle with the schedule so it starts at 12:30A on 10/1 to accommodate Housing Complex "C"?
  2. Ha. I knew they were going to come up with an excuse to do this outside of FanDome. I never got around to watching The Long Halloween last year, so I might not even tape this next new one. But Mask of the Phantasm is by all means kino (and classic kino, of course), so I'll make sure to see it. [by the way, where'd countfrylock go off to...?]
  3. Funny how this happens after I randomly thought of the 90s Mega Man cartoon at work today, which the latter was also in. It's also nice to see Emi Lo pop up in more stuff. [dun-nuuuuuuuuh]
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if Toonami still finds some way to fit animated DC movies in. After all, we've got... Black Adam? That's the only live-action one for the rest of the year. Guess they could just throw some more Batman movies on. How about the animated adaptation of The Killing Joke?
  5. I just thumbed through the article and this sounds pretty bad. Sucks that Haddish is implicated of all people, since Tuca & Bertie is a well-liked show on [as]. I feel like they would recast her character before the show itself is cancelled, but with Zaslav able to pull the strings, you never know.
  6. takt op.destiny 8 Last Period -the journey to the end of the despair- 6/7 Got one more episode picked out to commemorate the end of Crunchyroll's Wii U app, assuming it still works tomorrow morning. It starts a new show, and it's gonna be fun and filled with action.
  7. Probably just because they're the biggest name in the American anime business.
  8. Really late on this, but I'm sorry for whatever happened, and it's great to see you posting here again. Would be nice of some of the other former regulars could come crawling out of their holes too. You got that right. This week has been pretty good for me, actually. Got more days off then usual, found out I just got a raise today, and I'm preparing to go on vacation next week. And said vacation includes Sunday, so I'll be able to watch the shows live and maybe pop in here to chat. By the way... surprise. I'll chat right now. Primal: Really good episode this week (or last week, relatively speaking), with lots of action. The only thing that I wasn't keen on was the vultures, which had annoying voices. Wasn't expecting Vidarr's kid to be killed so cleanly like that, but it was still visceral. Lupin Part VI: Just a really well-written episode. I do wish they'd gone further with the head of the security company's love for Lupin, but there's only so much you can do with 22 minutes worth of content.
  9. Daisuki? Now that's a rave from the grave. I never used that service, but I primarily remember it for being the first streaming home of Cinderella Girls.
  10. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Really, at this point I'm just concerened the Uzumaki series might get shitcanned rather than any of the other originals. But also, it's promising that they're shopping around that Batman series rather than writing it off and consigning it to the dustbin of lost media history. Seems like all that trolling on social media is working. So maybe these co-pros could survive if WBD decides they don't want 'em anymore. It could be as simple as shipping them off to Crunchyroll, or maybe HIDIVE given the Sentai partnership (and AMC's wallet, which is probably big). I'll think about buying Infinity Train and the like on iTunes, but... I don't know. That platform never sat well with me due to applying DRM to their video content. And I'm definitely not going to bother with Amazon. So at least for now, I've dusted off my MySpleen account and am finally going to use it properly. Back when I made it, I had no idea how torrent clients worked, which left me with a horrible ratio. 😵
  11. Well, it looks like I can finally watch Dawn of the Deep Soul. I probably should've done it right before the season started, but I didn't want to have to switch to the sub. As for a Toonami airing, I'm sure it'll happen eventually, since nothing has changed on their relationship with Sentai. It's just a matter of having the money, which... LOL.
  12. I never cared much for this whole clown show, so I guess I'm happy that it's over... even though there's a chance it never will be. It feels like everything Vic has done has sucked air out of the room that could've gone toward making things better for other women affected by creeps in the dubbing industry. Granted, I don't know how bad things actually are, but I've heard some rumblings. Am I the only one who even remembers how all of this started, with Hazukari and all?
  13. All of this talk about Infinity Train is doing a better job of making me want to watch the show than anything that happened during its original run, save for maybe when people thought [adult swim] Jr. was gonna be a thing and this show would be its first original. Remember that? Anyway, it helps that I'm big on media preservation: rip your Blu-ray discs (even if you can't play them), back up your FLACs, and stash all your ripped video games on a different computer somewhere in the house. Too bad I don't have a media server where I can have instant access to all of it at any given time, but I prefer physical media anyway.
  14. Well, that was worth the price of "we're not spoiling this and neither should you". I was expecting this to be something completely different, but I also thought it would have grander implications for this show's lore, and maybe even a connection to one of Genndy's other shows. Then again, saying that would probably get you laughed off of Twitter by people who hate TVTropes and the people it's apparently brainwashed into believing that more lore = a better show. This was a solid stand-alone action feature, and I wasn't expecting it to end with the ostensibly heroic characters defeating the big, bad primal prisoner. Just goes to show many storytelling skills this guy is packing.
  15. Himegoto 3-6 (reread) Witch Hat Atelier 10-11 The Idolm@ster Million Live! 4
  16. Laid-Back Camp S2E12/13 And a sorta random bit of news: the ComicFesta title popularly known as Show Time! (I just refer to it as the show with the Songstress) is being dubbed. Crazy that these hentai that air censored versions on Japanese TV are now a big deal around here too. Makes my comment about how Skirt no Naka will never be released hilarious in hindsight. [never on crunchyroll, though]
  17. Talk about doing Viz a solid, and by extension Toonami. I expect this to air on the block with no resistance. It would be cool if a little awkward if they got Madhouse back for S3, but let's be honest: it wouldn't be anything without getting back the talented freelancers who helped take S1 over the top. Hopefully they're not all preoccupied with Demon Slayer or something.
  18. I'm mostly used to AI art from memes, and I've taken a stab at making my own a few times. It's going to be weird seeing more mainstream uses of it. I also think a lot of the fun from DALL-E came from the early versions of it where it was rougher, and thus whatever you got from your fucked-up queries was especially deranged. To some extent, I'd prefer if things stayed that way.
  19. And today marks 20 years since the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil ("the" is part of the title) came out... in Japan. But I'm not waiting until tomorrow my time to celebrate. Touhou Hifuu Club ~The Sealed Esoteric History~ Episode 1: "Moon"
  20. Maybe. I know Sentai has the home video rights and is actually making their own dub for the show to be included there, so on top of that weirdness, maybe it would be available for Toonami to air? But I also know the same thing happened for Kakegurui, and that show ain't leaving Netflix anytime soon.
  21. Now that was an episode that earned its TV-MAV. I saw this back-to-back with the previous one, and that episode felt like it could've gotten an MA straight if WBD S&P (woah, that one rolls off your tongue) used intermediary ratings for things other than dialogue sets, or even a 14V. I mean, all it had was Fang chomping one guy in half. And from the looks if it, next week's episode isn't going to be any better, assuming that audio from the end is actually from the episode. Caveman (and Dinosaur) vs. Vikings: The Ultimate Showdown. Maybe this is just a precursor to Vinland Saga on Toonami?
  22. Just watched this. It was one long conversation lasting 11 minutes, possibly improvised. The characters fucked up and didn't get to do anything mentioned in the episode description. I kinda liked it, but more for how experimental it felt. Good thing I've already seen an episode via this year's April Fools' stunt. Also, weird that [as] decided to premiere this on a Saturday. I wasn't expecting it to do any favors for Toonami, but the ratings seem to have been normal.
  23. All right! I bought the first volume of this series and liked it very much. It's big enough that it was a foregone conclusion it would get animated. Trigger is a pretty left-field choice for it, though. Hopefully their take on it has a heaping dose of sakuga.
  24. Interviews with Monster Girls 5/6 Girls' Last Tour 1 (rewatch)/2 Laid-Back Camp S2E10/11 The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls 15 Birdie Wing -Golf Girl's Story- 6/7 Touhou Hifuu Club: The Sealed Esoteric History 1 Jesus, almost a month since my last post. I thought I'd posted earlier, but I guess not. No biggie. Seven years ago today, I published my first review of an anime episode on the ASMB w/ gratuitous content ratings, which was the first episode of Squid Girl. Seems time to pile on another. The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Episode 15: "When the spell is broken..." [r.i.p. jerry garcia]
  25. More than anything, I'm afraid Uzumaki might get axed, simply because it's been delayed multiple times and has probably sucked up a lot of money. But who knows if it'll test well. Believe me, I'm trying not to think about Toonami getting cancelled as hard as I can, and I'm sure you are too. But, having dwelled on things, I think the block actually has just as much to gain from the new management at WBD as it does to lose. Because, above all else, Toonami is a brand. A brand that's been around for over a quarter century (though there were three and a half years where it wasn't airing) and has lots of credibility among anime fans. Go up to some rando otaku on the street, show them a picture of TOM, and I think there's a good chance they'll know who he is. So what's to say this brand isn't something Zaslav and friends want to exploit? We already know they want to make a Harry Potter series (which, ew, but it's his beliefs and I can respect that). Maybe Cosmo Samurai: The Series could come with it?
