I think The Catcher in the Rye has had an influence on Main Character Syndrome omnipresent in contemporary American culture. (I just felt like saying something deep and stupid.) I first read when I was 13, while my parents were going through a divorce. I think I'll read it again soon.

There is no way it only takes 14 hours to no longer be impoverished in Japan on minimum wage. It is however interesting how affordable Tokyo has become compared to the average American city when just ten years ago it was one of the most expensive cities in the world.
