i used one yesterday at the oral surgeon. they also got three benjis. to pull out one damn tooth. -
love how shit always pops up a week before you're supposed to be leaving on vacation. i spent $500 on some emergency dental work for the wife, and now her car needs work that could run anywhere from a couple hundred, up to god knows how much. and i can't get the car in til late next week, because i had to cancel two different appointments this week because wife was getting emergency dental work done. and we're supposed to be taking her car on vacation. oh, and we'll have to re-work the vacation budget if the car costs too much to fix. 😡 i just want to go sit on the beach for a few days in peace. that's all i want. is that too much to ask?

god damn bathroom sink is gurgling as the washer drains. clay pipes full of roots again, i'd bet my third nut. old houses are so ... neat.

kielbasa medallions in sauerkraut. or canadian bacon pizza with sauerkraut on top. so many things go surprisingly well with fermented cabbage.

the closer i get to being old people, the more i find myself being annoyed by the antics of old people. i'll surely become a "get off my lawn" old people in due time.

I got this exact set on black Friday sale for $125 when I built my new gaming PC. Been very happy with it. I can't imagine needing 2x this RAM. What are you doing with all that?

breweries are popping up around here, but we're a small enough town that none have landed in town just yet. i was planning on opening one myself in about 3 years or so, but now there's a rumor of some old asshole going to open one up right next door to our bar...in the space i was eyeballing for our brewery. and he knew that. what a cock. anyways. breweries are easy enough to get to around here (i'm actually taking all my bartenders on a 3-brewery field trip sunday), but i'm not in well enough with any of them yet that i can walk in and just buy up a sack of grain. one of them, i'm getting cozy with to the point that he's committed to dropping in sometime this summer for a tap takeover. they have a beer that i'm confident will carry them onto the national scene in the next couple years. we've been pouring it for almost 2 years now, and it's our most popular draft......wait, i'm on a tangent now.

i wish we had a brew supply store around. i have to drive 90 minutes to get to one. or buy stuff online, which is a pain because shipping 20lb of grain or a 15-gallon kettle can get pricey.

mead is one of those things where i just can't decide. i've had a couple that were good, but it seems like most of them are just kinda nasty. and i've never had a good homebrew mead (but my experiences there are few). that being said, it's about the easiest thing you can ferment at home (hard cider might be easier, depending on what you're after). give it a shot! so this porter didn't pass muster for me. my brewing buddy was satisfied with it, but the cherries fermented off too much sugar and made the beer dry and bitter. couple that with an almost overwhelming cherry flavor giving it a bit of a medicine aftertaste, and i call it a fail. i might try it again with half as many cherries, or just some cherry puree, to make it more subtle. i'd kick the fruit altogether, but the point of brewing this beer is to learn how to use fruit effectively. oh well!

so i just found out from my wife this morning that some old-money asshat with practically no knowledge of brewing, has started work on a brewery in the building i was researching to do the exact same thing...literally right next door to my bar. i've been farming this plan for the last 7 years, we completed phase two of three this last summer, and were only a couple more years away from our launch. and this guy fucking knew it because he asked me if i was building a brewery last summer while i was working on the outdoor venue. i told him then, that the brewery was coming but was still a couple years out because we had to secure a property and investors before we could start construction. FUCK ASS SHIT

people today. i swear, every single person in this office is helpless and annoying. no janet, i don't have time to come up to your desk and help you figure out why you can't get the play store to load on your shitty lg phone. or to unlock the same user account 3 fucking times because you can't remember to turn off caps lock. or any of the 20 other stupid issues you people can't overcome.

i replaced two 40gal electric heaters in my old house over 9 years. with the cheap ones. bad investment. they kept developing pinhole leaks in the bottom, even though they were stationary on blocks and kept dry at all times (on the outside, obviously). the house i moved into in 2016 had a 40gal electric in the basement that was 17 years old. i sucked out the buildup and replaced the elements a few months after moving in, and it's still running like a champ. crap. now i jinxed it.

yes, it does. but not for long...

Why do some people spend so much on weddings?
wacky1980 replied to Swimmod_Luna's topic in Free-For-All
i don't usually have to do much work where a ring is a hazard, but i do keep a couple of those junk silicone ones for the random occasion or when i'm doing a backwoods trip or something. i kinda hate my ring, but i don't want to tell the wife because she might take offense. it's just giant and thick and annoying. catholic weddings are indeed long, boring, and full of junk traditions that i cannot wait to see get retired. for instance: i get the symbolic nature of the unity candle, but it's such a hollow thing. you each light a candle, then use your two candles to light a third candle together. poof, married. then you blow out the candle?!? what kind of symbolic gesture is that! and the readings and the sermon (homily, whatever) and all the standing and kneeling and sitting. ugh. -
lol COBOL. i'm gonna go work for VISA in 1976.
