well, they did try to fix a lot from the last jedi, but it only opened up new issues imo. this movie could have probably been spread across two if they explored everything necessary to reach the conclusion we got. but that doesn't fit the neat little trilogy package, so let's just stuff that turkey hard and hope for the best!

and one more thing,
-
yeah, i guess that never did come up. huh.

well, the critics aren't wrong. it was pretty bad.first of all, i feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities to make this better. a few pretty big things happen, that could have (should have) made people cry like babies. but you weren't really given an opportunity to digest them before the next thing is forced into your face. and things happen that ... i mean, i've seen the other movies, several times. and things happen in this movie that just don't reconcile for me. and there's not much in the way of explanation offered, you just have to pick it up as you go. or just give up trying to make sense of what you're watching, and enjoy it for the eye candy it is. except those leia scenes. those were straight cgi trash and they'd have done better to just write her out of the film entirely, or at the least, minimize her role quite a bit. and there's so much more. but i'm done bashing it for now. it was a lot of fun and a fitting end to this trilogy, for the most part. there were some interesting twists, and i left it with a good sense of closure. hopefully this is the last one they make. ok, my biggest gripe though:

-
i wanna say i was around during all the fbi stuff, which was maybe 07-08? before then too, but it's all fuzzy when you go back that far.

are you serious? even the cheap off-brand versions cost like $20. that's a week of meals for ol' nabisco.

i really like how we helped the city draft ordinance for state-licensed gambling back in 2012. at their request, we worked with their legal team and talked to other local communities on how to best limit the economic impacts, respect those opposed to gaming by establishing clear and strict barriers for hosts to operate gaming establishments, and to minimize the reputation that comes with excessive gaming establishments. and it was a good system that worked pretty well for several years. then starting in 2018, the city realized they could scrape up significantly more gaming revenue by blowing the doors off the barriers to entry, and instead monetizing the process. since then, the number of gaming establishments has tripled. the city also managed to massage the ordinance into forcing applicants to purchase the most expensive class of liquor license in order to be eligible to host gaming. AND after all that, they enforced an annual coin-operated device hosting fee. so now we have gaming in the local guns & ammo store (i'm still not sure how they got a gaming license AND a liquor license established with the state, in the same building that also sells firearms), gaming in the barber shop, and gaming in the gas station across from the high school (<100' separates the two so again, not sure how they got that rammed through). and there's another gas station getting hooked up this month. the city now has fewer bars than at any other time in its history, but has more active liquor licenses out than at any time in its history. we have 3x the per capita average for the entire state in gaming locations. and to top it off, i'm apparently the only one paying attention to the numbers, because the community has already reached its saturation point. and the new establishments are not locally-owned, so those establishments' revenues are being removed from the community. in other words, overall gaming revenue has already hit its plateau, but with more establishments fighting over the same size pie, everyone's getting a smaller piece. and now over half of that pie is leaving town to be consumed elsewhere. talk about your all-time backfires.

peanut butter chili is god-mode chili.
-
i'm a fan of cornbread with chili, but everyone else in the house likes it another way. so no, we do peanut butter sandwiches instead.

went a little more sweet than i intended. i picked up some green peppers a few days ago but they spoiled in the fridge, so i had to use some sweet peppers i had on hand instead. didn't really take that into consideration when i mixed up the rest of the batch, so now we're a little on the sweet side. still pretty good though. another 30 minutes of simmering and a final flavor adjustment, and it'll be ready just in time to watch the bears get stomped by the packers. bonus, it' supposed to start snowing this afternoon and drop up to 8" before it's done. nice wintertime sunday.

it's about done. after we transferred to secondary and added in the cherries, the fermentation reignited off the sugars in the fruit and we had to wait an additional week for that to wind itself down. i wasn't expecting it to eat thru all the sugar like that, so now it's pretty dry...and unmeasurably boozier than the 6.5% we were expecting after the weak mash. i'm guessing as high as 8% but we'll never know. and since it's so dry, we'll have to add maybe 4oz of lactose to back-sweeten it. we kegged and carbonated about 10 days ago, and once we add the lactose, it should be ready to go. it could probably do well by another week or two of aging before it's in the sweet spot. we'll just have to drink some now and then drink some more then and see.

it's not that i don't enjoy the song, but the city probably shouldn't be using their new outdoor ambient music system to play dylan's "rainy day women" :smileyfacepalm:
