you can buy more online for a buck or two each.

no. it will move from west to east, and will take about 2 hours to cross the continent.

well the good news is, at least you've apparently still got the freedom to post like an ass.

i'm taking a whole day. the eclipse will be about 90% where i live, but i've never seen one at 100% so i'll do what i have to in order to get there. then there's the 4/8/24 total eclipse that's also gonna be passing over just south of here. the kids will be old enough to appreciate that one, so mark those calendars now for another personal day.

it must suck being so consumed with what other people post about.

well then i guess you're uninvited.

soooo maybe i've been waiting for the solar eclipse for several years now. until about a week ago, i had my itinerary all figured out too. then wife decided she wants to come and bring the kids along. well, so much for driving down to shawnee nat'l forest, dumping the truck, and hoofing it out to some remote clearing to set up camp. and of course, it's way too late to book a hotel or a campsite within the path of totality at this point. ok, new plan! since we're technically only about 3 hours' drive away from the centerline of the eclipse, i found a nature preserve outside columbia mo, talked to the site manager, and received his blessing to find a clearing out on the preserve to watch the show. we can't camp out the night before, but since we can drive right up to within a few yards of where we'll set up the cameras and etc, we should be able to get out of the house around 7am and have plenty of time to be set up before the show starts at about 11:46am. got all my solar viewing equipment out of storage (maybe i bought the stuff a few years ago in anticipation) and fired up the old camera. still need to go test it out to make sure i can get the shots i want out of it. hopefully i get some good pics to bring home. i was looking at solar filters for photography yesterday, and anything decent is $100+ so fuck that. i'll build one out of some solar film and a uv filter or something. will probably also put together one of those pinhole shadow boxes to keep a quick eye on things, and also for the wife/kids to check out so they don't have to stare up all day. anyone else making plans to watch the end of the world happen live? making human sacrifices / conjuring up the old spirits / getting really fucked up?

so you're gonna chlorinate a kiddie pool? or are you just filling it with tap water, and you're concerned about the chemicals in that?

you can probably get two 1/6 barrel kegs plus your co2 tank inside a standard upright fridge (freezer on top) without much trouble. you can even mount the tap faucets directly to the fridge, so you don't have to mess with routing the beer lines and keeping them cold. or... ever heard of the "keezer"? it's a diy draft cooler made from a chest freezer. since you can't set one of those freezers to the right temp for beer though, you buy a $40 thermostat that controls power to the freezer. bring the lid of the freezer up by about 6" for adequate head space, and this is what you get: *drool* i'm going to build one of these at some point for my house. -

what's your style? i'm still weighing options for the next couple batches. leaning towards a grapefruit sculpin clone and possibly an oktoberfest. i don't think i have anything held back right now except a couple batches that didn't turn out so well, and i wouldn't recommend drinking them unless you're in real need. i'm actually meeting up with the group today, discussing some options for moving forward. might have to move our brew space to another location, which would take us offline for a few weeks. -
if it was severe enough, it could be. don't give up on the alcoholic thing though. i know people who have successfully lobbied for ss disability benefits solely because they were diagnosed with alcoholism. pieces of white trash shit they are, but they got what you're wanting. as long as you don't mind being considered a waste of air and living well below the poverty line, it's always an option.

sorry, illinois. we have pretty strict rules about what you can do with homebrew. one of the things you definitely can NOT do is sell it. if you want to sell your own beer, you have to purchase a brewer's license from the state, get inspected by the TTB (basically the ATF), and have a commercial brewing space that also gets inspected by the state health department. it's a.lot.of.work to get it done, just to sell your beer. you can give it away all you want though. -

on another setup, we bought an old fridge and cut out all the shelving, and set it up as a kegerator. then we just drilled a hole thru the wall into the next room over from the bar to run the beer line across, and set the fridge up right there. it was just a single tap system, but we had a wall-mounted tap faucet and drip pan. the drip pan then drained back into the other room, into a bucket. this was back in college before we really knew what we were doing, and didn't really pay attention to keeping the beer line cool from the fridge to the tap. usually had to pour off the first few ounces of the first beer because it was all head from being warm. if you're running several feet of beer line outside of the cooler, you'll either have to invest some real cash into a line cooling system or just know that the first beer will always go to waste (or to the asshole in the room). honestly, it's gonna end up being quite a bit cheaper dumping that first beer out unless you end up using this thing 5 times a week for a few years. -
Probably not. It just seems like it used to be that there were relatively few people who knew how to torrent, and with things like fire TV stick and Android TV boxes, piracy is really common with people who might don't know the first thing about protecting themselves. If/when the law decides to crack down on it, they're gonna have more easily-identified offenders than they can handle.

we didn't do anything special for our draft system. found an older 4-tap draft fridge for sale on craigslist for $300, and we dragged it into the basement and set it up as a back bar. after replacing the compressor and all the beer and co2 lines, putting new seals on the doors, and doing a little fabrication to clean it up, we were into it for about $900. and now we have 4 taps set up with homebrew. it was one of these types of coolers (admittedly, ours looks a lot more rough than the pic). the only difference is ours has two taps on each tower. this was nice because it's got a giant stainless slab on top, which works great as a bar top. and it's also like 7' long so we don't use anything else in the back. do you have more pics? i enjoy talking about this kind of stuff, bouncing ideas off other people, seeing other people's creations, etc etc. been doing this for like 15 years, and i'm always impressed by what people come up with for their home setups. -
studios and content creators are going after the content providers and isp's. i mean, it's not likely you'll get arrested for streaming through kodi, but the libraries are getting shut down and your isp might send you a threatening letter. i've received several over the years from torrenting, but never actually had any negative consequences beyond the threat of getting my service disconnected. but in this day and age, everything is tracked, and i wouldn't be terribly surprised to see some new regulation come down that makes streaming (or pirating in general) a more harshly-prosecutable offense. probably over-reacting, but when it's reeeeally easy to avoid these problems and still get what you want, why risk it?

just watch yo ass. they're starting to crack down on kodi / xbmc users.

these projects are so much fun. don't be scared to do something a little crazy, because that's the stuff that makes your bar unique and interesting. so with the custom drip tray, i assume you're installing a draft system as well? how many taps are you aiming for? -

looks good. lots of storage, tall enough for big liquor bottles. now it just needs some lighting... i don't have great pics of our homebrew bar. just a couple where the bar is in the picture. but it's got storage galore and some fancy led strip lighting (that you can't see because the pics are shit). had to take a pic of all the beer we'd bottled (and kegged) that night. flights of something (probably not homebrew...too clear for that lol) but there's also my home-made flight paddles on the bartop. -
so does one pizza = one meal for you? or half a pizza? here's where i don't understand the whole "cheapest pizza available" mentality. i used to be that way until i realized that even when buying, say, a tombstone at $4, you're still getting a cheap-as-shit meal. a box of shells & cheese is like $3. frozen tv dinners are anywhere from $2-7. hamburger helper is $2 a box, then you have to add a pound of hamburger for an additional $2-4. anything with chicken in or on it is gonna be $5 minimum, unless you're getting one of those shitty pot pies for a buck a pop. a fucking bag of potato chips is anywhere from $2.50-4. if you're gonna make pizza your dinner, why not spend $5 and get something halfways decent? don't get me wrong, i stuff jack's and tombstones in my freezer on occasion. but i'd rather be getting a butch's or tj's (local frozen brands) because they actually taste like something more than cardboard and marinara.

bullshit. i suppose it has a cassette deck and everything too.

fucking lame. pop for some NiMH D cells and save .... wait. why the fuck are you even using a boombox?

yep, i took the wife to one of these places a few years ago for an MRI of her pituitary gland because she didn't have insurance and it was gonna cost like $4,000 to have it done at the local hospital. we drove over to kansas city, got full af on good bbq, stayed in a hotel for the night, got her scan the next morning, and drove back home that day with discs and hardcopy. cost of the procedure, travel & lodging, and meals was only like $600.
